Tara and Allan said we don’t owe them anything other than to enjoy a Zebra Dome -- well this trip has been an unexpected surprise but we didn’t have any budget for high-ticket meals, so we were going to order the Sweet Endings Room Service Tastes of Boma, which includes a Zebra Dome, a Kenyan Coffee Latte Tart, and a Fruit Tart. We weren’t sure if we were going to order it Tuesday or Wednesday after dinner.
After I got dressed, I went downstairs to find dh for the restaurant tours, he had ordered another margarita! And fallen asleep on the chaise lol. My phone call woke him up, he said he was going into the locker room to get dressed, but he was still chilling on a bench when I found him! With less than 10 minutes to tour time! I don’t think I ever saw him get dressed so fast since I went into labor, with each dd it was when we were about to go to bed, so around midnight - every time ROFL. And he stuffed his swim trunks into a sweatshirt pocket because he didn’t want to go all the way back to the room after the tour lol. Men!
The tour was cool, we did get a few tastes, too. Although dh and I would have absolutely loved a tour of the kitchens too, we were surprised about the tastes, and besides, it was a free tour to boot, making dh a very happy man ;). The tour consisted of a “cultural representative” guiding us briefly through the foods at each restaurant.
At Boma, we started at the beginning of the buffet line and the guide simply explained the name of each dish and what it consisted of. There were 3 other couples on the tour with us, only one couple had never dined there before. I guess I was expecting something more detailed, perhaps even recipes, you know? But the big surprise was the actual sample tastes; they were mostly foods I hadn‘t tried when I was there to dine. The first tastes were soup. We had a choice of Butternut Squash Soup or a Chicken Corn Porridge, which was like a non-creamy corn chowder, more like a thick chicken stock with corn, bell peppers, potatoes, and something moderately spicy, maybe the peppers weren’t bell, they could’ve been a spicy variety. Then the guide led us through the salads, breads, hummus, puddings, and finally … the miniatures pastriesJ. We did have a choice of any of the miniatures on display, but in honor of the insanely generous Swilleys, dh and I each chose a -- TA DAA -- Zebra Dome!
