Chapter 8 - A whole lot of nothing going on

Today was AK emh. I got up early, tried the shower - water was rust colored. The note that was placed under our door said to let it run for a while and it would clear up. It didn't. I gave up and decided I would just head to "Africa" dirty and worry about showering when we got back.

I had a really hard time waking the girls up. I'm not sure if it is the daylight savings change or what - but I have never had trouble waking them on vacation like this trip.

Finally up, and dressed we walked down to the bus stop. My plan was to try Everest this morning. We have a late ADR at Tusker House for breakfast. No rushing, just taking our time seeing the different trails.

While sitting at the bus stop, both girls fall back to sleep. As the bus approached I had a hard time waking them. So. . .I gave up. I asked them if they wanted to go to "Africa" or did they want to go back to bed. They both voted bed. So we went back to our room, and I tucked them back in. I wasn't happy, but it didn't make sense to force them if they were that tired. Course, I couldn't understand how they could be so tired as we really didn't seem to be doing much.

The girls started to stir again a little before noon. The water finally ran clear too - so I showered, we all dressed again. I checked and was able to get a lunch ADR at Tony's. YAY. So we headed to MK for lunch. Between Mickie's leg & her foot, she wasn't walking too well - so it was slow going, perhaps it was good we had not tried AK as most of what we wanted to do was walk the trails.

Maddie took a pic of the fountain at Tony's. Photobucket

Lunch was good. After lunch we went back to WL. Nothing really planned at this point. We did stop and get charicatures of the girls done. They had seen the man during the week, and both wanted it done - but he was usually busy when we saw him. Guess with everyone else at parks, this was our moment. :)

The pics came out cute - they are larger than my scanner at home, so cut off slightly.

Maddie - the princess (boy he even got the way she cuts her eyes). Photobucket

Makayla the mermaid, chin dimple and all. Photobucket

We then went to our room, changed, and went swimming for a bit. Then back to our room - the girls wanted to play with their toys.

Man, I keep hoping AK will work out for your family but it just doesn't does it? LOL

Did the girls have a bug or something? Maybe a reaction to all the different pollens in FL that I'm sure were in full bloom? It is odd not to read about them up and ready to go.

I like the characatures-very cute! Plus lunch looked good too-love me some Tony's.

I don't know - maybe pollen could be it.

That happened to us when we went for Spring Break too. It's hard! I can understand them wanting to sleep. I had a hard time this year with just a one hour difference.Man, if I had thought about it before you went I would have mentioned it but I didn't. :(

Was it as busy as you thought it would be? How did it compare to Thanksgiving time? I tell ya, I have never been to WDW when it was as busy as SB and I don't think I want to (ok, well, I take that back- I want to hit it up at Christmas time and that will be insane).

I found Spring Break to be more crowded than Thanksgiving, which surprised me.

I was suprised at just how crowded it was over SB too. I guess it might be b/c it's Spring and warm in FL and after a cold winter people want to get out. Plus, it's tax return time so more disposable income and at Thanksgiving more people are trying to deal with Christmas and that money so less to spend on a vacation. Those are my guesses but I really don't know WHY SB is SOOOO crowded. I do know I don't think I want to do Disney again on SB. DCL yes, WDW no. ;)

I think I would have been pretty disappointed and probably not taken it as well as you did Deb. I'm sorry you didn't make it to AK. But you are probably right, with the leg problem, it was probably for the best.

Your 1900 sounds really fun and the girls look like they are really enjoying it. And heck, you have a nice laid back (ALL the way back, lol!) vacation.

You know Deb, when I went to Italy, it messed me up for over a week. The day I got there, I was fine. I slept great that night (but I'd been up for 36 hours). But the next night I couldn't sleep at all. Then I took some benedryl and that knocked me out and I slept the next night. But then when I came home, I had that whole " up for 24 hours" thing again and I was absolutely dragging for an entire week. I couldn't have gotten enough sleep if I tried! Poor girls. I know just what that feels like.
