Day 4- Come Sail Away, Come Sail Away, Come Sail Away With Me- Part A

We woke up early again (when do we get to sleep again? Oh yea, when we get home!) and we all met for breakfast. We ate at ASSp and had the usual Disney breakfast- Mickey waffles, eggs, etc. Then we headed back to the room to gather our stuff, say good bye to my parents-who were going to stay for a late check out and rest-and head off to the port.

Here is a good time to give you my impression of ASSp and the new cup refill system they are trying. First of all, ASSp was awesome. The rooms were clean and updated, the resort seemed well kept and cared for. The CM's were friendly and helpful and we all really enjoyed it. I think that was the same impression I had of it 8 years ago. Now, the "new and improved" drink system. It is ok. I don't have an issue with the amount of soda they give you-once you add ice you can drink some and refill right away-we didn't have any problems with that at all. The biggest issue was the speed at which the soda is dispensed. It comes out FAST and it's tough for smaller kids (and older, less coordinated adults-me) to fill the mug without making a mess. It seemed more complicated than the ones at Pop. I know it really wasn't but I would make a mess every, single time-Robbie too. I wasn't really a fan of the system but if they could slow down the release of the soda I think it might work for me. LOL

OK, we are headed to the port...It took us a little bit to be ready to go and we were a little later heading to the port than we planned but it turned out that it was perfect timing. I had picked up $20 in quarters for tolls and had saved quarters for a few months for Robbie to make pennies so we were stocked and ready to hit the toll road to the port. But wait, Tara and Allan didn't think about the tolls. Oops. So I gave them a tube of quarters and we were off-going thru the exact change booths and running smoothly to the port. :)

We had decided to try the off site parking that was recommended on the DIS- ParkNCruise. We found our way there and it seemed a little dicey at first but it turned out to be wonderful. A good lesson in "don't judge a book by it's cover". Plus, they only charged 6.99/day and Disney charged 15.99/day. Score! We were really excited and were the only ones in the "Disney" line so we got the van to ourselves, oops, no we didn't. They added a group of four from Carnival to our van and we were off. We came out of the parking lot and up to the bridge to to port where we saw her for the first time...the Dream.

It's neat how your excitement is coming through in your recounting.

If you register the kiddos online before you board you can get the wristbands in the terminal before you board. It's really easy. I DO wish they could come up with some system that was less cumbersome for the kids though. Robbie was glad to be free of the thing in the end.

No trouble at all getting a seat in Cabanas-ever. I know this is a HUGE ship-it really is-but it never felt huge-ok, except when I took the fwd elevators and up to my floor and had to walk to the aft to get to my room-LOL. Really, it was not at all as huge feeling inside as it looks outside. There were a couple times it felt crowded but overall, you never would have guessed that 4,000 people were onboard. Disney usually figures out crowd control pretty well and they sure seemed to do so on the Dream.

I did think about copying it over there. I need to do that. :)

Robbie REALLY wanted to see Cptn Mickey but everyone else was so excited to get on ship that they didn't want to wait for him to meet him. I was willing to wait with him but no, they just HAD to get on ship. *rolls eyes* So no pics of Mickey or me or Robbie. I also wanted a pic of the model of the ship they have in the midddle of the terminal but that is lacking from my pics also b/c, ya know, we HAD to get on ship. ;)

Max, you will LOVE it. I can't wait for you to go and experience it!! David was always kind of indifferent about cruising and when I suggested booking this cruise he said, "I guess so". But now-I have created a monster! LOL He called me on his lunch hour yesterday to look at deck plans and staterooms on other ships. LOL Who IS this guy? ;)
