If you are starting to think this was the longest day ever... you are right!!! LOL!

OK, I am a little fuzzy on what we did right after the Vatican. I can't remember if we went back to the hotel but I don't think so. Anyway, this night we were on our own for dinner, so we went to this square and then we all dispersed and met back up later. Most of us paid extra to take the Rome by Night tour. It started out that Pettus, Anna and a lady named Susan and I all were shopping together for purses. But then Anna and Susan had to go to the bathroom. Well, no public facilities there, so you have to buy something to go to the bathroom and it was dinner time anyway so Susan and Anna decided to go ahead and eat dinner at one of the little sidewalk restaurants, and we knew the stores were closing in about an hour, so Pettus and I decided to shop.

I loved the little crochet hat on this horse. Photobucket Look who I found in Italy!!!! Photobucket Photobucket Here is the square where we met. Photobucket We walked from there to the Trevi fountain- which is always in any movie set in Rome. You have to throw three coins over your left shoulder to assure your return to Italy- which you KNOW I did!! It is pretty amazing there. The trevi fountain is at the end of the natural spring. it has some really interesting history.

I am still trying to recover from the "whirl wind". Crazy that a week later I am still feeling the effects. Luckily, next year I'll have plenty of time to recover as it will be summer and I'll be off work.

I really hope the girls can understand the significance of the things we're going to go see. I know we are going to have to do a lot of learning with them. Some of them will "get" it and some of them won't. I'd say the two Hannah's will get it and the other three will just like the "pretty buildings".

You know, they may not get it now. . .but it is a memory they'll carry with them into higher grades.

Very true. I think it will change them forever- in a good way.
