Here is a new vacations thread too. :) Any vacation plans we want to share that are not Disney or a cruise-ya know, like one to Europe or something-we can chat about in here. :)

OK, so I am watching Live! with Kelly and they are discussing odd vacation spots. Well, here is one for you all to google, Island of the Dolls in Mexico. This one is super creepy. Seth Myers is the co-host today and he was saying that some single Dad will probably just see the dolls part and take his girls there. It's creepy-check it out. I googled Island of the Dolls and then pulled up the images.

Yuck.   What people consider vacation thrills amazes me.   I mean, I know we all have different tastes - but that is just downright creepy.

My thought is, who is the person who thought this up and are they medicated?

I was looking at my Thanksgiving beach trip today and thought I would share some of the things I want us to do. We are staying in Corolla which is up where the wild horses are so I want to do a wild horse tour-they are so beautiful and how often do you get to see wild horses playing in the ocean??

One day I want to head to Roanoake Island and the town of Manteo. There is a very nice English garden called Elizabethan Gardens and is right next to the area where the Lost Colony was. Very interesting, beautiful and historical place.

In this same area is one of the NC Aquariums. I haven't been here since I was like 8 but we used to go to the one at Pine Knoll Shores and I LOVE that one so I am guessing we will love this one too.

There is a lot of history over here with the Lost Colony and the Indians-oh and pirates. Blackbeard supposedly has treasure buried here somewhere. :smileyhappy:This is a state park with a lot to see and do-lots more history.

Then there is a store that was always a family tradition to go to when we went to the beach. It's a HUGE Christmas store.

I think should be more than a full day. LOL We may not even get to the park-but I want to try. :smileyhappy:

The last thing I want to do is go shopping! There is a town called Duck that has my favorite shopping center on the outer banks. The shopping centers are not what you think of as a "typical" shopping center. Much more "beach-like" and natural. I love it. :smileyhappy:

Finally, since we are staying in Corolla we will probably shop and eat up at this center quite a bit.

All this plus hanging with the family and preparing Thanksgiving dinner and I think we will have a full week. :smileyhappy:

Thanks Chris. I am excited to share it all with my family. The older boys have been there a couple times with me but just for the weekend. This will be the first time we have to really explore stuff. It should be fun. :smileyhappy:

Kim, I had trouble with the links on my home computer & forgot to come back to it when we got the new modem.    So, now I'm happily looking at your plans.

My gosh that all looks incredible!  Seriously, very family-memory making.

I can't wait to read the trip report.

OK, so I am wondering who this guy is who is calling himself my husband. He just called me from work and said that someone in his office has a note up about a condo in Cabo San Lucas we could rent for $350/week and would I be interested in it? First question I asked him is do you know where Cabo is?? The airfare would kill us. THEN he suggests we DRIVE there...ummm not just NO but ^#$$ NO. Sorry, no offense to MX but I wouldn't drive my family through that country for anything-not to mention it's like a 45 hour drive. Noooooo. So then I looked up airfare on Travelocity and the cheapest flights were $810/pp. I said, no way, we can cruise for less than that! LOL He agreed. Cruise and get all food & entertainment paid for for less than the cost of airfare to Cabo. Soooo, then I said, "My parents want to cruise with us". We ended up talking about it and he was not jumping up and down but seemed to at least not strike it down. I pushed how it would be a relatively inexpensive cruise and we could do a 4 nighter like on the Dream to try out NCL. He was fairly receptive to it. We'll see where it goes.

Wow.  I would be hesitant to go to any of the towns on the West Coast of Mexico.   Not to mention driving through those border towns would be pretty risky.    I'm with you.    I'd cruise.   If it's an iffy port, stay on the ship.   Food, entertainment, designated driver, kids club.

I could see John asking me that - as he would be clueless where Cabo San Lucas is. . ..did David know where it was?

No, he didn't. I told him to look on a map and after he Goole Mapped it and saw where and how far the drive would be he conceeded that it wasn't a good idea. Smart man. LOL Now we're discussing the NCL cruise. My parents offered to put Robbie in their room and even pay for him so I hope David says yes. :smileyhappy:
