... the trip wasn't as bad as it has been the last couple of times.  Mostly because I didn't get involved in their little games.  Whenever someone tried to make me take sides I told them: I'm not getting involved; and whenever (especially my Mom) started to bad mouth someone I changed the subject.  That way it was much more relaxing for me ;)

The girls had fun.  We went to the pool a few times (the best pool ever ...), took the train and bus to visit my aunt, went to taste and buy marzipan in Luebeck, went to the Zoo and the play ground.  My Mom had her birthday party, lots of people called and sent cards for her, my great-nephew got baptized, my niece had a birthday party and we got to visit with lots of people.  Overall it was a nice stay.  The flight takes about 7 hours to either London, England or Frankfurt, Germany then another hour to the old home town.

Hope I wasn't missed too much ;)

I'm glad it wasn't too bad.  I know how hard it is to avoid drama, so good for you!  It sounds like you were able to steer clear of it.  I hope your mom had a good birthday!

Welcome back Brigitte.  It sounds like you were able to pack a lot into your time away.  I'm glad you were able to see so many family members, and without getting caught up in any family politics.  Well done!

Jen, I think she enjoyed her birthday quite a bit. She got lots of flowers, cards and money for an E-bike she's saving for.

Elaine, I'm always running around to visit everyone, although it's been getting fewer every time I go ... On my first visit back my Mom and my Dad each invited family over so I didn't have to go see each one separately, but then they all said: make sure you come and see me ...
