I love being a SAHM, but most days it seems like everything is against me and I just can't keep on top of anything.

Some of them are picky about stuff touching and only my oldest likes gravy. I guess I would say I do not allow them to be picky. I make a variety of veggies and foods and they have to eat some of everything. At a certain point it gets put away for breakfast but that doesn't happen too often. I do give small portions of things I know they do not like but they are not allowed to say yuck and an "I don't like ___" is met with "I don't care". I'm really impressed with how well they do eat. I have 2 that like green veggies, the oldest 2 asked for a second bowl the last 2 times we had chili... In general there is very little grumbling about food around here. We'll see when the little guy gets old enough to have to eat everything but he generally does really good unless someone says "treat" before he gets done with his food. Then he just wants a treat and refuses to eat. Oh we do allow a small candy after dinner if they eat what they were given and don't take excessively long. I also stopped giving DS3 an afternoon snack and he does much better eating his dinner.

LOL, DH bought me divider plates before we had kids but I felt silly eating off of them. They now work great for the kids! DH takes his meatloaf, corn and mashed potatoes and puts them all on the same fork, the first time I saw that I was so grossed out.

I don't do a whole lot of fancy stuff in the crock pot because I don't like my foods touching (not a fan of soups or casserols).

I'm actually from Canada, so no state-funded programs for me!

(((HUGS))) & valium for your frazzled nerves. I only have the 1 child but we live very close to 5 other kids that are around almost 24/7. In & out & capri sun's & cheezeits. Oy. Lists. I have lists & sterlite containers for everything. I'll make my menu, then my grocery list & really try to stick to it. As far as organized chaos that's where the containers come in. DD has several in many many colors & sizes to put every "set" of toys into seperate containers. Then I come through with my labeler. But that's my ideal, not what I can do everyday. Don't be too hard on yourself.
