Hopefully I'm not putting this in the wrong spot, but I figure it's kitchen related... :)

Anyone know of a good stovetop cleaner?

I hate trying to clean burned on gunk from the stove. Our (gas) stove top is black, and it's true that black hides the stuff better. Still, I hate knowing there's stuff there I can't clean off. It started two weeks after we got the stove. I've never been able to clean it. I've tried baking soda pastes, Easy Off, these stove top scrub pad things, and countless other remedies, but nothing works 100%. The baking soda paste always worked the best, though.

I'll start by saying I hate my black glass electric cook top! Anything, even water, will burn to it and stay forever! The ceramabrite cleaner that came with it just sucks. I ran across this on pinterest.com: sprinkle baking soda all over it, mix a little dishsoap and hot water and wet a rag with it. Lay the rag over the soda-sprinkled stove top. Let it sit a minimum 15 minutes. Cover it with saran wrap if you leave it very long, so it won't dry out. I think I left mine about an hr. Then scrub with the rag. This got 95% of the crap off my stove. Use gloves since the soda is kind of abrasive on skin and go back and shine it up with windex.

Manda :)

I'll skip the ammonia, as I have two "helper kitties"... But, said helper kitties recognize the bleach bottle and steer clear of it. I'll have to try the rag followed by bleach and dish soap.. I don't know why I didn't think of that given that I clean my sink weekly with a bleach and dish soap solution to get the stains off.
And now I feel kind of stupid... LOL

I have a glass top electric and just use the cook top cleaner you find at the store. Mine is black so it doesn't show so bad but you can feel it. I wish I had something for you. I don't mind the glass cook top but I was so excited to see a gas line when we moved the stove.
