I am a stay at home mom of a 4 year old boy and a 1 year old girl. I have been staying home for over a year now (since just before DD was born). DS is what you might call a "spirited child." Every day with him

I never planned to be a Mom, let alone a SAHM.

can i ask if u may think your son could have some behavioral problems ?? something more than just being a "bratty child" so to speak ?? If so , you could have him evaluated by your local school system, and if they see fit theyd start him in a preschool program with whatever extras he may

If you don't mind my asking, what does he do exactly? As a mom of two spirited boys( have you read "Raising your Spirited Child"? ..Its the only parenting book I've ever read. I was having trouble with my oldest who fit the description-and I tried to avoid the triggers that sent him off,,It seemed to work,,Hes 7 now and a dream...My youngest also has a volitile temperament.- but is still a very loving child- he just gets nuts sometimes because hes super high energy-and goes goes goes until hes so exhausted he breaks down adn tantrums...He's also 4, like yours.

so--if your son is being destructive, exceptionally nasty, putting himself or someone else in danger , hitting, getting violent, you may want to see a professional--someone who can look at the situation impartially and give you some suggestions. You really should talk to your dh and mother about it. My mother always gave me great advice when I was struggling with the boys behavior.

( also- at 4- he may be getting bored and acting out . Does he have any playmates? I know my boys like to go go go. - and they like nothing better than playing with their buddies. Maybe there is some sort of school you can get him into, he might be a different child once hes in a very structured environment and surrounded by other kids)

good luck

Thank you for your responses. Yes - I have read "Raising Your Spirited Child," which fits DS to a T!! I do need to reread it, however. I think at the time

I'm wondering if he's just at an age where he's bored?
