12 months, still not walking

Good morning ladies! My daughter turned 12 months old Aug 25 and she is still not walking. She uses the couch to stand and she stands in the crib holding on, and all day long she wants me to walk her, holding her arms(its hard on me cause I have a bad back)
I have looked up lots of advice online and have tried it all to get her to walk on her own. I guess I will just have to wait and keep walking with her until she is ready.
Its also frustrating because she will not wear sneakers she keeps taking them off, she wants to be barefoot and gets angry because she wants me to walk her outside.
Any advice please? Thanks!
Monica

Hello. Thanks for your post, I dont put sneakers on my daughter unless she wants to go walking outside, but it takes a very long time to get the sneakers on her (she struggles and complains) My problem is that she wants to walk all over the house but when we get to the door she complains and throws a tantrum if I dont take her outside and I cant take her without shoes on, even if its raining she wants to walk outside, she loves
I know this post is all over the place but I had to make it quick!
My dd walked at 14 months, and my ds walked at 15 months. Normal age range for walking is between 9 and 17 months. Please don't feel as if something is wrong with her. Also its better for children to be barefoot and learn to walk without shoes on first. These are all things that I have heard from my ped. and my baby's physical and occupational therapists. And I have read things like this over and over again.
The reason my baby has therapists is b/c he has hypotonia and sensory issues, something I'm sure you do not have to worry about. I think your dd is right on track.

Agree with PPs, my son didnt walk until 15 months!!
Destiny, my middle and Colton, my youngest didn't walk
"Agree with PPs, my son didnt walk until 15 months!! And his name is Walker!!!"
ROFL!!! yeah now THAT'S some serious irony LOL
Natalie didn't walk until 13 months... I'd say it's nothing to worry about :o)
I wouldn't give in and help her all the time if I were you. Try giving her a special push toy to walk with. Try a stroller for her dolls. Be encouraging but not pushy. Eventually, when you're not looking she'll just walk.
I hope this was somewhat of a help to you. Good luck!

Belle didnt walk until she was about 13-14 months either, I woulndn't worry.
As a former child development specialist...and to agree with pp's...your babe sounds right on track. Although she isn't 'walking' (which is normal within a big range--9mon-18!)...she is doing everything right to prepare to walk independently. I would be worried if she wasn't doing any walking skills at all (e.g. pulling up on furniture, stepping, etc.).
Also, it is so common that babies hate shoes (mine did for sure). The shoes from Target that someone else posted are great. They provide the protection I am sure you are looking for outside yet they are comfortable for the baby--they are like slippers. They are also so easy to get on and off. I highly recommend them. Plus they are super cute.
