As a former personal trainer, this is THE best way to eat! You don't need to sign up for any special program or pay any money to anybody. Just simply eat small portions every 3 hours. I've been eating this way almost my entire life and here I am almost 40 and I weigh the same as I did when I was a teenager (I'm not perfect. I've had my ups and downs now and then). I have always been an active person so that obviously has helped me to maintain my weight. I've been eating this way simply because I HATE feeling full/stuffed. I absolutely detest it. So, I eat a bowl of Cheerios with walnuts for breakfast around 8 AM and by 11 AM I am hungry again. This way of eating really helps you to listen to your body. You are not denying it food when you are hungry. When I was a personal trainer I would try to convince my clients to eat this way, but so many women are used to denying themselves food in order to lose weight. By eating a small amount of food every couple of hours(depends on your body size but anywhere from 200-350 calories) you are giving your body a constant, steady source of fuel. This keeps your metabolism going. You'll know you are eating the correct amount of calories/proper portion size if you start to feel hungry again 2.5-3 hours later. If 4-5 hours have gone by and you are just starting to feel hungry, you will know that you ate too much at your last meal and you can adjust your next meal accordingly. But like I said, you can do this on your own without spending any money for a special "plan". Eating healthy foods is obviously another key component. If you eat a bowl of sugar cereal you'll be hungry one hour later. Try to get fiber in at each meal and a lean source of protein. I'm not good at getting in my protein but I try! I've been helping my sister lose weight with this method. It's a simple concept but not always easy to follow. She still tends to eat too much at each meal so she is struggling. Try it and give us an update!
As for protein, I recently discovered a couple of good protein sources since I'm trying to move towards a more vegetarian lifestyle. At Target I found this "Back to Nature High Protein Granola"... it is SO yummy! My mom found these "Glenny's Naturals Soy Crisps" at WalMart... I like the ranch flavored the best, and they are REALLY yummy with guacamole lol.
Michele I haven't joined this site, but I just might do the free trial since you mentioned that... I use flax seed, and have been meaning to get some flax oil. I have several recipes for smoothies that use flax oil, but I've also just used a spoonful of the ground flax seed. I also make muffins with flax seed, and am always on the lookout for more flax recipes. I have some other recipes I haven't tried yet too. If you want any of them let me know.
Flaxseed oil is very good for you in that it is a concentrated source of Omega 3's. You can also get these from walnuts. I personally have never tried flaxseed oil simply because it doesn't sound very tasty. Getting a good source of fat daily is important for it helps you to feel more satiated in addition to being necessary for brain function and other body functions. My personal choice for Omega 3's is walnuts. I eat a bowl of Cheerios with about 6 walnuts on it every morning. Very yummy!
I hadn't heard of this diet, but I went to their website and it sounds pretty easy to follow. It says you can lose 10lbs in 2 weeks!
The website also has menus for meat lovers, carb lovers, healthy eaters, vegetarian, fast food and dessert menus.
Thank you so much for sharing!!!!
