6 year old - teeth problems?

My six year old finally felt his first tooth wiggle - so exciting! Upon closer inspection, I find that his permanent tooth has already broken through the gum but behind the baby tooth and coming in at a strange angle. I spoke to the dentist today ... he said its very common and he wouldn't be concerned if I was describing the baby tooth as very loose but its not so he may actually have to pull the baby tooth to prevent it pushing on the bone and damaging it. Ugh!!! We go next Thursday.

Anyone ever have to have a young child's tooth pulled?

I had to have some of my baby teeth pulled, but I was much older...6th grade. I dont remember the adult teeth coming in behind them, but they just couldnt get through with the babes still in there. I think I had to have between 4-6 pulled.

My 7 yr old just went through the same thing!

One day while doing vocal lessons, I noticed another tooth behind his baby tooth. I got him into the dentist the next day. His dentist said it was quite common, especially since he got his teeth later(10 months). He said the baby tooth was wiggly and that if his baby tooth did not fall out in a month that he would pull it. He had my ds go home and everyday wiggle his baby tooth while he watched tv or did homework.

one week later we were in the van and for some reason ds chomped down on the back of his seat, then said his tooth was lose. I took him home and in less than ten seconds it was out.

Good luck, hope it comes out well. Maybe put him on a wiggling regiment to.
