I totally lost it last night!! I'm so sick and tired of the way their bedrooms look! Mostly oldest dd. She is just plain old messy. She claims she can't help it, that is just the way she was made (oh brother, kids and their answers). She is ALWAYS in a hurry, so instead of putting things where they belong, she shoves them in the most convenient place (under her bed, under her desk, in a drawer, cabinet, etc.) and then it LOOKS clean. But, watch out.....So I went in to close her closet door at bedtime last night and I couldn't because the cabinet inside her closet wasn't closed all the way. I went to close it and couldn't. For a very good reason.....it was so messy it couldn't close all the way!! I grabbed a garbage bag and started shoving stuff in it. Katie was crying and I was explaining to her the whole time that she needs to take care of her things, put them where they belong, take her time, etc. I left the garbage bag on her floor and went to cool down. I told her that I am cleaning her room today when she gets on the bus, and if there are important things she wants to keep she had better have them put away neatly in a safe place or they will go out to the garbage man. Oh man, I just get so frustrated. I have all sorts of bins, containers, shelves, etc. for her to use and keep things organized, but she doesn't use them properly. I don't know what else to do but to let her live like a slob. However, I worked hard to make her room so cute, with butterflies and dragonflies and ladybugs, that I really want her to see that and enjoy it, rather than the mess she always has. Her carpeting is filthy, and I need to clean it. Hers is the worst. It is only 2 yrs old and looks to be about 10! Dh hates that. Good thing we didn't spend alot of money on the girls rooms for carpeting. O.K., I'm done ranting. Thanks for letting me get that off my (very flat) chest!!

My DDs share a room and OH MY GOD !!!! The mess !!!!! I finally went storming in there w/a garbage bag, too and the things I found - gum, sucker sticks, markers w/o the tops EVERYWHERE, nothing where it was supposed to be...it was baaaaaad. So I eliminated paperwork - they can have their diaries and a notebook, but everything else they want to do (worksheets, projects, etc) has to be done in the kitchen so I can personally see that the scraps went in the trash and the markers and things got put away. Then I tossed all the tiny things - puzzle pieces, miniature animals - things that USED to go to a set, but the set is long gone, so I saw no point in keeping them. Now that that is all gone, finally I can walk in there w/o feeling my blood pressure go up ! So I know how you feel and good luck with it ! And its nice to know mine aren't the only ones !!!!!
