alternating Tylenol and Motrin for fever

DD (4) has had a high temp on and off for 2 days. They did a strep test but it was neg, will wait for culture results in 2 days. Her temp ranges anywhere from 100-104. Our pediatrician doesn't believe in alternating Tylenol with Motrin due to potential for toxicity. I have had our kids see our local family physician when I can't get into Peds clinic and they recommend alternating for a high fever. It's so confusing, I don't know who to believe anymore. What does other doctors recommend? TIA Ann

I would definitely stick to one or the other. I personally do not give Motrin anymore to my children ever since my 8yr old dd had a severe allergic reaction around 2 yrs ago and after I saw that it left a young girl blind (it came on the news). I sure hope she gets to feeling better. ((HUGS to her))

We use to alternate with Andrew and have with Dalton, only when it was so high that I would not wait the 6 hours each time to help lower the fever.
I think you should do what you think is best and also what the ped tells you is good.
