Hi All! I just found this board and came out of lurkdom ;) I'm a member of the April 05 Playgroup, and the sahm to 3 year old Marisa and 1 year old Jesse.

My question is if there are any sahm's here of special needs children. My dd, Marisa, is autistic. She is enrolled in a special education preschool program which begins again in a few weeks. But the last month or so since she's been home again full time have been very draining for me! I actually told dh the other nite I was ready to give up the sahm gig and go back to work. But as we've discussed before, and he pointed out again. Regular daycares might not be able to accomodate her. Not to mention it terrifies me, the fact that she cannot talk, and could not tell us if she were being mistreated. Goodness knows she's hard enough for "us" to handle, and we're her parents! I was wondering if anyone here might have some suggestions, or some helpful boards or sites I could check out. Thanks and now that I've found you I'll be posting more often!

Hi and welcome to the board. I'm Chrissy, sahm to Madison almost 7, Hayden almost 4 and Mason is 15 months. Hayden has sensory integration disorder, and awaiting to see if he has OCD or PDD, and Mason has hypotonia and some sensory issues. I don't really see them as special needs, but technically they are. Good for you for staying home with your daughter. Kids like ours don't belong in daycares, I don't think any kid does though, lol! If you ever want to talk, just give me a shout on the board, or email me thru my profile.
