Molly is very frustrating at times. It takes her a long time to get used to a situation before she won't cling to me. Last week, we had VBS at our church, and I was in charge of crafts. Molly went into a group, with familiar children, but still cried. Then, later in the week when she was more comfortable, her leader wasn't in the area where she should be, so Molly wouldn't go with her group, until her actual leader showed up. Now, this week, they are signed up for VBS at my friend's house, in their yard. Katie can't wait, but Molly woke up crying about it. She says she wants to be with me. I don't have time this week to devote again to VBS everyday. It is for 2 hrs each morning, and my friend said this is her gift. Drop off your kids and she will occupy them for 2 hrs/day. I don't know what to do to convince her that she will have fun. She went last year. She knows this family - we get together with them often, and Kylie, who is Molly's age, spends lots of time with us while her mom runs the brownie meeting at school. I am looking forward to having mornings to myself to catch up on things that got left undone last week, and to prepare for our trip - we leave on Saturday for a week at the lake. I told Molly if she stayed home, she would have to stay in her room for the whole time, so I could get things done. I was hoping she wouldn't like that idea, but it didn't seem to phase her. So then, later I changed my mind and told her I would take her and sign her up, and then stay until she gets used to it. Grrrr, it is sooooo trying. She prefers me over dh, most times. I don't think he takes it personally, it just frustrates him that he can't give me break and help her with whatever it is. She usually tells him "No, mommy will do it" or "I will wait for mommy". I just don't get it. I know that I am all she has known since she was a baby, so she has always been with me, but sometimes, I just can't seem to break away. What do I do?
Frustrated mommy,
Wendy
