Anybody participate in mom's groups?

I was wondering if anyone does a mom's group during the week. I used to do gymboree, but I'd like a change. Someone mentioned momsclub.org to find a local group, so I also might do that pretty soon. Any advice? Do you do a group during the week? How often?

TIA,
Melissa

I have been telling myself for a year that I am going to join a moms group I just need to get off my lazy butt and do it.

I have thought about gymboree but not sure if I want to spend all that money.

I use to own one and it was very nice to have other moms to meet with each week. We had a blast, but with being a small town, it was hard to get people to join, so it died.
I do recommend every mom to join one or make one of your own :)

I created a homeschool support group on Yahoo for homeschool families in my area. So every friday I get together with the moms of our group.

I am pretty much a loner, so doing this was pretty scary, but I totally reccomend that If you do not find a group in your area that you create your own. I was shocked that within just days people starting asking to join. Do a yahoo search on your town and their might already be a group formed. Here are some links to finding other moms groups in your area...

New here, but yes, I do.

Our local community has a program called New Comers Club and you can join - single - newly married - kids - whatever.

I joined, and the moms group was ok, but it was everyone - all groups, all personalities.

I then went to a gymboree and met three friends that I have known for over a year (our girls are all around the same age, so we are all going through the same things together).

We used to have scheduled playgroups, but that fizzled, and now it has gotten back into the swing of things (we always got together after the thing fizzled - we just didn't have set times -kind of a whenever was good for us kind of thing - we always called eachother all the time during the week....)

We now meet once a week, for lunch (one person brings) and the girls can play after lunch.

Religious places are great to meet other moms, too.

Good luck

Yup! I actually am the manager of a playgroup here in my area. We have a total of 33 members and we schedule 3 parent/child activities per week. We also have a Mommies' Night Out and scrapbook night once a month. Every couple of months, we have a Parents' Night (dinner out for Mom and Dad) and also a family get-together.

We have a great time! I started the group up in January last year and I've made a BUNCH of friends though it!
