Anyone else have this???

Hello Everyone :)

Newbie here - frustrated newbie, mom of 5 girls in OK going thru round (after round, after round) of cold/flu symptoms: High fever (5-7 days), cough w/mucus and sad, miserable kids. Is anyone else going thru this??? Local hospitals full of kids like this.

My friends son (4 y.o.) was hospitalized recently in the NICU, when they discovered he had strep in his bloodstream! No cause, can't find a single reason why he got it except to tell the frazzled parents that he seems to have a new, unidentified strain of strep & they'd be contacting the CDC.

There's just something going around the metro area and children and teachers alike have been dropping off the map in droves and now, my kids have it and I'm trying my best to nurse them back to health while taking my vitamin supplements and praying I don't get it.

Are there any moms in other cities out there seeing anything like this? Thanks for taking the time to read my worried little rant :).

I am so sorry to hear about your daughter. Where you live, it may just be the weather, like you said but here, we don't have that excuse - just allergens! Tons and tons of allergens! Still, I can't figure out what's causing this.

Friend of mine (who's son was in the NICU) just got over something like your daughter had, but they gave her some high-powered antibiotics to clear it up. It was looking like bronchitis, but she seems to be doing better now, just a little cough.

My youngest (16-mos) got over her fever in about 5-6 days and was doing well for 3 days and went outside with her sisters on Tuesday and by Weds morning, she had her fever back, this time with runny green nose. Argh!

Just waiting now for the other two to get it and still popping 6 grams of vitamin C per day in the hopes I won't get it and hope for everyone's sake this goes away soon!

Congrats on your pregnancy and please stay well!!
