well atleast I am not the only one. Carter talked CORDAY into doing it even though she could be fired. It never showed them after that, just said that she would go scrub in.
Ok, here is what happened last year...... They were driving in the car, the two black guys and then the Asian women, sorry not good with the names, just the faces. They got shot at, their car ran off the road into the river. The women was shot. The guy in the back drowned and the other two got out okay. I belive the black doctor had some problems with his head from something. Now with the July thing, I am not sure what that was about, but it seem to have all the people and story line in place, so it was up to date. I love ER and try and watch it every week, but with 2 kids, and I am alone, it's not easy.
I think the 4th of July timing was just to keep the thing with Carter's baby in the right time frame. KWIM? They lost the baby at the end of last season, right? So I think they were just trying to reinforce that his grieving is still really fresh. Maybe not, I'm just guessing, lol.
But I have one word for you.... TiVo! I would die without my TiVo.
Okay, now I've got to know what happened to Carter's baby! I didn't watch last season so I am not up to date. And who is the Indian woman who was looking for a job...why did she lose her job at the hospital?
LOL, oh boy, so much for just checking in real quick and then getting back to straightening up!
So, let's see, in a nutshell, Carter knocked up (forgive me if that term is offensive to anyone) this lady dr while he was in Africa doing volunteer work. They decided to raise the baby together but not get married and she moved into his mansion with him. Right about their edd, the baby just died. I don't remember if the cord wrapped around his neck or what, but they had to induce a stillbirth. Very sad. Very, very sad. In the season premiere, Kem (the mother) went back to Africa to "gather her thoughts" - basically she ditched him. They email each other once in awhile now, but that's it. So he's having nightmares of the baby crying and Kem calling for him and then he wakes up all alone. :(
The Indian woman is Neela. She was a student, same year as Abbey, and was supposed to transfer to Michigan to finish her residency. During the hospital orientation she basically had a panic attack and dropped out. Turns out that she never really wanted to be a doctor, that's just what her parents decided she should do. But now she doesn't know what to do because she doesn't have any experience doing anything at all except being a student.
HTHs, lol, you just got me in trouble - dh came home early and I'm sitting here gossipping about tv!! You can also go to http://www.nbc.com/ER to get specific episode updates. You could call it educational research. ;)
Carter's baby (boy) was stillborn. Can't quite remember -- I have to watch the show with one eye sometimes 'cause of the kids, etc -- I think that the umbilical cord strangulated the baby in utero. They said it was a 'freak' occurance. The gilrfriend (can't remember the actress' name ... she was in the Oprah/Toni Morrison movie Beloved ??), whom he met while doing the Dr.s w/o Borders gig, said she hadn't felt the baby move in a while. She was nearly full term. They went in for a check and she wound up having to labor with and deliver a dead child. It was awful. Lucca and Abby and Carter's dad (Mr. Keaton from the Michael J Fox TV show) were there for them. French-speaking foreign girlfriend chick ditched Carter at the beginning of this season. He asked her to stay and marry him as they tossed the baby's ashes into Lake Michigan. She was all, "No I want to go back to work ... Blah, blah." See ya, my contract was only for 10 episodes. Abby asked Carter out to dinner and a 'meeting' (AA) this week. He declined. He seemed to be taking some pills out of his locker this week at one point when he was looking run down. Wonder if his addiction will come back.
Weaver won custody of her son (the son she had with her deceased female parnter, the ambulance tech). Which was good because the dead partner's family wasn't looking too likely to give her access there at the end of last season.
The Indian woman was one of the junior bird man doctor/interns along with Abby last season. She's very brainy, but had some work to do on her people skills. She and abby contrasted one another ... Abby being real-world experienced and very people saavy ... and the indian chick being textbook perfect, an ace on exams (Abby failed her boards the first time) and in the classroom, but awkward on the floor. The Indian woman (sorry, can't remember her name ... Mira?) had a flirtation with one of the black Dr.s ... not the one who was bright but grandstandish/egotisitical (who had the affair and car accident with Chen), but the other soft-spoken, humble one who was in the military. There was an episode last season where the Indian woman made a fatal error with a patient ... and he covered for her. He lied to save her. Because of her junior status, she would have had grave consequences. He got a slap on the wrist and a mark on his record. Carter was privy to the whole thing and he wasn't happy about it. Neither was the Indian girl. But as she chased after him and confronted him (The "I didn't ask you to rescue me" bit), they ended up kissing before he dived into a cab on his way to Iraq. He rejoined the military after his reprimand. They'd been having sparks before the whole incident ... but now he's gone. Meanwhile she got a prestigious placement at the University of Michigan after performing well on her board exams and at the end of last season she was leaving for Ann Arbor. But she turned up in the premiere with serious professional angst, not sure she wants to be a doctor anymore. Her parents were p***ed. They don't go for this 'think for yourself' self-indulgent stuff ... apparently she has a long line of sibs depending on her income to put *them* through school in turn. She is temporarily living with Abby. They are friends, but they are very different. She's kind of sheltered but brilliant and seems to grate Abby, but not completely. She has po ...you know? I'm sure she'll wind up back at the hospital ... aren't they always short staffed?
I am sooooo sorry I got you into trouble. Tell your Dh that someone, some mom was in the dark about something and you as a caring, responsible person just could not let some poor mom be left hanging! LOL

LOL...I was thinking the same thing! I thought well maybe I am just so tired I am not "getting it".
I did not watch last season so I can't answer your question, but it was pretty weird!
I did not see the end, do you know what happened to the hiv postive man who wanted the kidney of his friend who died?
