Are you close to your neighbors?

I was wondering how many of you are close to your neighbors. We have really gotten to be close to ours lately. We hang outside for at least an hour everyday and our little culdesac members come out and chat with us. It is the best thing. We are really blessed to have these good friends on our street. Most of them are coming to my son's birthday on Sunday. It should be a really good time.

I would love to find some neighbors to hang out with!. We just moved to FL about a month and a half ago. We live in a great subdivision where the houses are quite close together. We walk and stop and talk to people but no one that we really hang out with. We love our new house and location but I sure do miss my friends. We moved from a very rural area so there my only neighbor was my MIL. We lived there about 6 months on family land before my DH and I decided if we stayed we would be crazy or divorced!

I talk to my neighbors when I see them, but we don't hang out or anything.

Well, my subdivision is gated and while there are a ton of families in here it doesn't seem there are any friendly ones.

Everyone in our neighborhood is friendly. I am close to the elderly lady next door. We have kinda adopted her as a Great Grandma to our daughter. She is 81 years old and still goes strong. My daughter who is 5 sometimes stays with her when I need to run over to the store or have an emergency. It is nice to have good neighbors around. I would feel safe leaving my daughter with quite a few of the neighbors. She is best friends with the little girl across the street, but we don't hang out all the time. I think we are fortunate to have friendly people around. It seems to be rare these days with everyone working so hard to make ends meet. Trish :)

good question. we just moved to a new neighborhood and met some of them...the neighbors across the street are a hoot and very personable. and if she can strike up a conversation with my 10 year old,i think she's got some real potential for being a great neighbor. lol. dh met the husband neighbor to the left of us but hasn't met the wife. she's a college professor and comes across as a bit snotty. i hate to judge but that's just my inner feeling about her looks. one of our neighbors is an fbi agent. there's a reason why the agent car is parked in a particular spot all the time (inside the cul de sac,no driveway) but i couldn't quite grasp what she was tryng to explain to me about it....there's a single woman on this street, too who sort of keeps to herself. she's said hello maybe once.

Yes, we have great neighbors. Everyone is really nice, and our next door neighbors have turned out to be good friends. We hang out with them a lot. I also belong to a neighborhood Bunco group (just the moms. No hubbies, no kids!). Almost everyone has kids, and it's a very stable neighborhood. Not a lot of moving in and out. We moved in when the development was built, so everyone moved in at the same time, and I think that helps. We also live on a cul-de-sac, so that makes it more cozy and easy to just hang out without worrying about cross-traffic. But we do know our neighbors on the other streets, too.

My neighborhood is the kind of neighborhood that has barbecues and parties. The neighbors, as much as I like them, can also be nosey and too involved in our life. We are pretty private, even though we're friends with everyone. I'm not the type that likes people popping in on me. The houses are far apart with a lot of property, but that doesn't stop people from being in your business. That's the one big drawback. We've said if we ever move, we'll move out to the boonies where no one is in our face, LOL! But it's nice for the kids, because they have so many friends to play with. It's a wonderful neighborhood for them to grow up in, with a great school district.
