In another thread we were talking about adopting from foster care. Well Dh and I are ttc #3 and if we concieve or not we plan to adopt a sibling group from the foster care system. So I am giving a shamless plug and want to show off some great kids that are looking for a mommy and daddy!

Did you know that you can choose the age and gender of the child you wish to adopt??

I want to adopt but Chris says no :(
I would love to help kids who need some love and a family, but Chris does not agree with me on it.

Lesley...Tell your friend that adopting from foster care Is MUCH easier than a private adoption. Also she can look at all the dps websites and find the child or children that are right for her, the child does not have to be from her state! Also It is very inexpensive and you can get help with expenses.

p.s forgot to say that for whatever reason children with siblings seem to fare better in the foster care system.

Thanks Traci,

for whatever reason, here in Canada, it is pretty much impossible to adopt a child/ren without "problems" IF you can afford it, there is very little choice of healthy children. Most people I know who have adopted have done so either overseas, or through the USA.

A big part of the problem with having an easier adoption process here, (imo) is that alot of the eligible kids are native indian (full or part), and the band in which the child comes from usually wants/gets the rights to the child. (no stats here, just based off of things in papers, and people who have been trying to adopt for YEARS)

Most people I know here have adopted from USA, or Asian countries. My sister is looking into Thailand now for adoption. I have always told my dh that I WILL adopt at some point. I just don't know when lol!!!

Thanks again for the info!

GRRRR...I hate it when they try and put kids with their "own" race...it is so ridiculous! In the USA it is the same with native americans..they would rather the children suffer than to find good homes :(
