The baby bird.....

Yesterday, my neighbor was coming up my driveway and stopped short of running over a baby bird, with her stroller, lying right in front of her. It was still a new bird, very weak. It had a brother attached to it (thats what the kids think it was - a brother) by some dried feathers. So, we dug a little hole in the ground with grass and put the bird in. Buried the brother. Then, we started feeding this little guy water. He was sooooo thristy. He is so weak that he looks like a spaz when you try to feed it, LOL! His head bobs all over the place! When dh came home, he put the bird into an abandoned nest he had found. We kept it in the garage over night. I went out to check it just a little while ago and he is still alive. The kids (mine and my neighbor's) all named him Fuzzy. I need to find out what else to feed him. We tried dropping ants into his mouth with a tweezers, but he moves around so much, we can't aim it in there!

Anyhow, thought I'd share about the baby bird. Kind of exciting for the kids.

LOL ok I'm going to sound like a dork, but I just saw an episode of 7th Heaven the other day where Ruthie found a baby bird and was feeding it worms from the bait store. Well they ended up taking it to a wild animal rescue shelter and the ranger told them never to feed a baby bird worms. He said to always turn in a bird so they can get proper care. So if you do keep it, just don't give it worms..or so the show says, hehe!

AWWW Wendy how cute. That sounds exactly like something DH would do. A few months ago he brought home a bird inside a box and said it was just sitting on the street and he did not want anyone to run over it. The next day he took it to an animal hospital and they were very happy that he brought it in. A few days later we received a letter in the mail thanking him for what he had done. Just an idea!

Thank you to both you and Mel for your helpful ideas. I used the sugar water to nourish it until someone came and picked it up for me. I called the animal hospital (Mel's idea) and they gave me the number for the Animal Rescue people. They came and got "Fuzzy" this afternoon.

Yay!

Thanks again, girls!
