How do I stop this lol. Belle refuses diapers on for the most part, and cries when she pees out of a diaper. I brought her potty out, and she sits on it, then when she has to pee, she gets off of it and pees elsewhere....thank goodness for laminate florrs lol.

How do I do this????

I need help lol

Oh no! Lesley some kids that age have a fear of going in the potty. It sounds silly but they don't like the idea of something that comes out of them being "lost". So they become afraid of peeing or pooping on the potty. I know I read somewhere how to "fix" this and will look it up.

Good luck!

Have you tried putting her on the real potty? Maybe that would help.
I hope you find a way to solve the problem.

Have you tried pull-ups?

My girls never did like their potty... they used the little seat that fits on the toilet seat with no problem though.

One thing that helps too is to take her with you every time you go, then when you get done sit her up there and praise her just for sitting there even if she doesn't do anything.

HTH!

Hi Lesley! Unfortunately, I have no advice and it seems everyone has a theory on how to get our little ones potty trained! I wanted to wish you luck and tell you to stick with it - Belle sounds like one smart little girlie! LOL - keep at it - have you tried reading her a story while she sits on it - or distract her?

Good luck and keep us posted!!

Lesley, I personally never used the little potty with the girls. I felt the real toilet was better cause I had heard of the kids just playing with the little one plus it is a pain to clean the little one (I'd rather stick to diapers than clean the poop off that little toilet..lol). Good luck and have patience.

I tried the real potty, and it freaked her out lol. I guess she thought it would flush her away lol. I tried the pull ups and she pulls them off. I guess I'll have to wait it out, and keep bringing her in with me!

How long did it take your girls Olivia?

Yeah my girls think the potty seat is a toy, too. We just started trying to teach Olivia how to potty and the little chair is just being used as a ladder for her it seems, lol! With Elise she would used it some, but not consistently enough so we bought one of those Dora seats that sit on the real potty and voila! she was using the potty! I am going to try Olivia with that, too. She's still a bit frightened of the big potty so we're taking it slowly and not rushing things. :)

Elise and Olivia will both be big sisters!!!

You might have to wait a little longer when she understands more about the process and feels more comfortable.
Andrew did not try or learn till he was about 2 1/2. He did it really quickly and never had a problem.

Hi Lesley,

Ugh - I hated potty training! However, I did it somewhat the old-fashioned way. I bought the really thick training underpants (which the girls liked) and then used the terrycloth lined rubber pants over them (to prevent leakage). When they wet themselves, it felt really icky and they didn't like it. I only used pull-ups at night. Also, my neighbor is training her 2 y/o right now, and most of the time, she has no pants or diapers/underpants on when they are at home. She remembers that she has to go potty when she doesn't have anything on. As tiring as it is, she also asks her CONSTANTLY if she has to go potty. It usually takes them a while to get the hang of it, so don't lose your cool. It is a tough process. Rewards for going potty always worked at my house. We gave one Smartie for going potty and 2 for going poopie. The girls always loved those. Mini m&m's work too. Not much sweet/sugar, but just enough for a reward.

Anyhow, good luck and I hope something works!!
