hey... do you have to have a permit to build onto your house? I want to add an enclosed sunporch... it wouldn't be on a concrete foundation, so would we still need a permit?
It depends on what state you live in, then what Boro or County. I would call your towns County Clerk and ask, they can give you the Number to Building and Maintenance.
Hey - things are good here!!! I haven't been into the boards much. The other two that I was one seemed to have gone a little eye-rolling, shake my head kind of way. So I really haven't been on much.
Christmas was good - everyone in my house is definitely way too spoiled...including me =}
We bought a new house earlier this year that we remodeled and were actually going to sell and move to the *country* but decided to just stay put and keep the kids at the school that they go to since we like the atmosphere and it's Catholic school that we feel really good about and want them to have that in their education. Anyway...we're staying put and have just been busy doing more things to the house since we decided to not sell it and are really making it our own now.
The kids are on break until Jan 8 so we have this week off still and the older two go back to school and it's back to just me and my baby - who is 4 now. He'll start PreK4 this August and I think I plan to go back to work at least part time. I've been thinking about trying to start my own business. I LOVE to sew and thought maybe I could get some contracts for doing school uniforms, costumes, etc. and then just the regular maintenance on things, alterations, or specialty things. I'm going to research it all when the kids go back to school and I've got some quiet time to be able to just sit and do it and Bryan can take the little one in the other room to play or go outside with him.
So things have been busy here and now that the Holidays have wound down we should be able to get back to some normalcy around here. Although, we have Boy Scouts and I am a Girl Scout Leader we still have those things keeping us going and then our oldest in about to have her second Junior Livestock Show in about two weeks that we're gearing up for. So other than those things we're just keepin' on keepin' on.
OK, so now that I've given way more info than anyone probably wanted to read I've got a little one hollerin' at me for a snack.

Anything that is physically added to your home that is not on your survey when you bought it needs a permit.
Good luck.
