I dont have kids yet....But I can tell ya what my aunt did. Every time her daughter wanted her bottle....she would put lemon juice on the nipple..or something sour on it...and when her daughter would put it in her mouth...she would make a sour looking face and throw it down....LOL! Just an option.

Christy posted a great idea...especially for an older child, but would not recommend this for younger ones I am calling a 2 an oder in this case I consider 1 the younger.

Lemon juice is natural, so I don't see the harm unless allergic to citrus.

Also try adding her very favorite to the sippy cup, and only putting water in the bottle. Then she has a choice of choising the sippy with the better stuff in it.

I am sure you probably know this, but wanted to say, that I have been to a dentist office where there was a young three year old screaming because they had to do so much dental work on her because of her long term use of a bottle.

I have a DS who is almost two. He's been off the bottle since prolly just over a year old. I think the idea like lemon juice is good and putting your DD's favorite drink in a sippy cup. Also it's my thought even if your DD throws a fit about wanting a bottle over a sippy, don't give in. It'll be hard (on both of you) but sooner or later she'll get the idea.

my mil rubbed the nipple of the bottle in fresh ground ginger. My dh wouldn't go near a bottle after that happened a few times.

Have you tried letting her pick out a "special" sippy cup out? Maybe that might help... or just refuse to give her the bottle and sooner or later she will take what she can get.....

Have you tried cups with regular straws? I know that tupperware sells some cups with lids that have a slot to insert a drinking straw. I realize that she can't go carrying one of those around the house without it spilling. But the seal is actually pretty good. And the novelty might catch her off guard if she's never used a straw before.
