Today is grocery shopping day. After I get the kids off to school I will run to the store and get some food. At lunch I have plans to meet with a bunch of local moms from another sites ALABAMA board. Then I gotta finish the laundry. I am almost done. Tonight dh and some co-workers are taking another co-worker out for a nice time cause he's about ready to ship off to Iraq. It's his last hoorah before heading into discipline. He's in charge and not happy about being the one in charge of the group. His boss can't go for medical reasons and dh's friend is 2nd in charge. So I am taking Matt to soccer practice and my mom will hopefully cook dinner for us cause we son't get home till almost 7:30.
It is going to be hot here today. Then this afternoon it is supposed to be thunderstorms, which is supposed to bring in cooler air. I will believe it when it happens.
We are going on a playdate this morning. I don't know how it is going to be since Bella woke up before 7 and this is already having little fits.
But hopefully she will be ok, and nap really well this afternoon.
Like Ana said, it's going to be hot and sticky today...I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we'll get some good storms this afternoon that cool everything down (and perk up our brown crispy grass!)
be careful what you wish for because we're getting some of the beating from the the tropical depression. on&off showers all day. i'm welcoming the cool front, that's for sure. lol.....gotta finish registering my girls for the new school here. tomorrow is back to school, tax free shopping day. we're looking forward to tackling ALL of that.
Poor Craig (and mommy!) I hope he feels better soon!!
Today we have Kade, so not much on the agenda. I'm washing all of the sheets and blankets today, so that will keep my washer and dryer running constantly! Other than that, just a little vacuuming to do.
Not sure yet what dinner is, maybe Beef Stroganoff.
Yesterday I completely organized the boys' room. As in dumped toys out and designated a spot for each type. And then started teaching them what goes where. I had them help straighten the room before Ethan's nap, and again before bed. I'm trying to get them into a better routine regarding their share of the housework, and keeping their room tidy. I still need to vacuum it but other than that it really looks good. I still have a ton of their toys in the garage to go through. Some of it we will be keeping since it's toys that they will want and would have been playing with had there been room for them in their room. I am gonna wait until Monday to start going through those though as I have other things coming up over the next few days that take priority over that. Ethan wet his bed, so he's the only one of us dressed, ha!, and his sheets are in the washing machine. But as Johnathan woke up and started heading for his Nintendo DS I told him "before you do anything, go in your room and make your bed and then you can have breakfast". I've been letting our routines slide and have been lazy about making them keep up their room or do housework, and I've realized I'm creating a monster and I need to stop this now. I do need to go slowly with them and build our routine as we go. Johnathan has Asperger's and it's not a good idea to implement too much change on him at once. And school starts next week so that new schedule will take his toll on him. So for now, I'm telling the boys that they must make their beds first thing when they wake up in the morning. The only exception is when Ethan wets his bed, since he is still night training. Ethan doesn't have enough coordination yet to do his whole bed by himself, so I've told him that when he wakes up on dry days I will do the sheet (and later when the weather starts to get cooler, his blanket(s)), and then he can pull up the quilt, and put his pillow and stuffed animals on the bed. Then we will have breakfast after the beds are made. I want to start having them both get dressed before they start their various activities, but I have gotten behind on getting clean laundry put away and I've got a mountain of it today. I spent this morning folding and hanging up my and dh's stuff, and that part is done. Now I just need to get their clothes put away in their dressers and closets. So, today I will let Johnathan and Elizabeth hang out in their pjs until I have that done. Then they will be responsible for picking up their room twice a day (it will be once a day for Johnathan once school starts). And for meal times they will take turns setting the table and helping wash dishes. And they will be responsible for getting their dirty clothes into the hamper when they take it off. That's it for now. I may add to it as time goes on, but as I said I don't want to dump too much on them too soon.
Aside from this mountain of laundry I've got to put away, I need to get a couple loads of laundry done for me and dh. Sunday is our 8th anniversary and we are going to Park City without the kids tomorrow and staying the night. So, I need to make sure we have some clothes for that, and since we don't know what time we're getting home Saturday afternoon/evening, I may only have time that night for dinner, dishes, and kids' baths so I want to make sure everyone has clean clothes for church on Sunday and get those washed, if need be today too. Then I need to catch up on dishes. Johnathan has back to school night tonight, and since dh will be at work, I'm taking the younger kids to my parents' house so they won't be running me ragged while I'm trying to help Johnathan figure out who his teacher is and look around the school (this school is new to him). He still needs some new shoes for school, so we'll probably stop at Payless after back to school night and get those.
If I have time with all this going on, I want to get Libby's room cleaned up. I can't seem to get the boys to stay out of her room, and they have destroyed it. Makes me so mad. And finally, again if I have the time today, I'm going to finish getting my pictures up on the walls so I can quit worrying about them getting ruined, or the frames getting busted.
Because I've got so much going on today, and dh has to leave early to work today because of overtime, I've decided lunch needs to be easy and quick. So, we're just gonna pull out the leftover ribs, and baked beans from last Sunday, and the taco meat and shells from the other day, and have a leftover day.
***Edited to add that I've got to get to the grocery store sometime today too. Not a big trip. Just need to get milk, bread, and some more fruit.
Okay, I'm off and running. Have a good day everyone.
