cousin i've never met?

Hello, all and happy new year. I feel like a total dork sometimes. I have this cousin who lives in my burough, who probably lives within walking distance from me, whom i have never met. He grew up here in athens while i grew up in the states. He contacted me last year, about 1 1/2 years ago, and i have not met him yet. He left it up to me really. He is divorced and has a grown daughter living with him. Now, i have not gotten in touch even to have coffee with him, and i always complain, that i have no relatives here. So, i am total dork.
I would like to ask him to come to my daughters party on Friday, evening. It will only be my sis in law, and her two grown kids also, one who is also the godparent to my daughter, and my hubby and fil, her hubby is too busy. My daughter has no real baby friends yet, I will wait till she is in school before inviting kids over. The other kids i was to invite can't come. Anyway, should i invite him, i feel like such a loser for not contacting him in over a year.
Two my husband who is an electrician still has not pulled wires on our external stairwell, in our building, so at night time the stairs are dark. This annoyes me but, he is also supper stressed right now at work so i am not going to hassle him about it. The reason, he doesn't like to invite people over is because the house is not done, cause he is doing it himself. This could have been done at some point, and i refuse to become socially reclusive because of it. We will use flashlights if have to, and Dh, can be mortified. I don't know. I call him Frenkenstein at times. I shouldnt' though lol.
Anyway, should i invite this cousin over i would like to meet him, he is my second cousin and i have no other blood relative in this city. This could mean a whole new world for me, cause i know he has two more brothers, but i think only one living, as well. Maybe i have been scared to become more rooted here. I don't know or maybe i was overwhelmed, cause we did only get the house together, that we are living in now starting three years ago. It didn't even have windows then or radiators, etc.. So, we have done alot of work, cause like i said my hubby is doing it himself, and the house is 3 condos, with huge stairwell, in the middle.
anyway, my big question is do i invite my cousin, or not.

I say go for it. There will be other people there, so it may take some of the awkwardness out of it. And what better excuse than your daughter's party. I hope that he can come, and that you have a wonderful first meeting.
