Hi Kim!

Best of Luck to you and the girls!! I give you lots and lots of credit for having three girls in Recitals. How do you do it? Do you keep your sanity or do you get stressed?

My dd (5) was in her second Recital two weeks ago and I got a little stressed. Part of the reason was because it fell on a very, very, very busy week. SOOOO glad it's over!! It was my last week of work, I had to make a bird costume for my dd for her Spring Program at School and I had to alter and hem her recital costumes, my dd school schedule was changed to the afternoon to practice for her Spring Program (my ds goes in the afternoon so I had to find someone to help take and pick him up) she had recital pictures, recital practice (I had to find someone else to take her because my husband and I had tickets to see Shania Twain that we had bought about 5-6 months prior), my son ended up being sick, it was my dh 30th Birthday and on top of all of that my In-Laws were on Vacation so my dh had to work over every night including his Birthday, (he works at the family business with just him and his Dad and Mom) he had to mow their grass and then we ( basically I ) had two extra dogs in our house to take care of, flowers to water (she has lots and lots of flowers!!!) and mail to get like I had nothing better to do. HA!HA! Like I said I'm so glad it is over. I really wish I could have enjoyed things a little bit more though, but there was just so much going on.

Oh, and I almost forgot to mention. The backstage mom that helped my daughter get one of her costumes on should be fired!! I know it is hectic back there and that is why I wanted to be back there, but they wanted moms who had experience with lots of recitals and this being only my dd second I wasn't "qualified." My dd tap costume had a fringed skirt on it and we were told to put a couple of stiches on the sides to keep it in place. Well somehow when the backstage mom helped her the skirt got messed up. So when she came out on stage she only had a skirt in the front. Boy was I a little upset. I went backstage after she was finished to help her fix her skirt because she was in the Finale with that same costume and they didn't want to let me back there, but I told them that someone needed to help my daughter. I told them nicely that someone should have noticed or at least checked to make sure that they all looked the same before going out on stage. My dd said she didn't even notice. Luckily they didn't really turn around for their routine so it wasn't extremely noticeable to everyone watching. If she would've turned around I'm sure everyone would have laughed and if she knew it was her that probably would've been her last recital. We laugh about it now, but at the time it wasn't funny!!

Sorry this was soooo long!! Thanks for listening. I'm sure you won't get a chance to read this until after the Recitals so I hope that everything went well. Keep us posted.

well it was a little stressful with 3 in it cause the 1st 15 numbers were basically my 3 girls so it was hard to get back with out misssing another one, so my older dd who has danced for 9 years took charge and did all that needed to be done back stage. Um I would never let any mother tell me I am not allowed back stage,, I hope next yr goes better for you,

Hi Kim!

Sorry to hear that your mom had open-heart surgery. How is she doing? Were you able to tape the recital for her to watch later?

Glad to hear that it went Great!! This year was definitely a learning experience for me.
