Darn neighbors

I got a letter from the city today, saying someone complained of our pool in the backyard.
We have had this pool up for 3 months now.
All of the sudden we get this crap saying that we cannot have our pool up because we do not have a fence.
I understand the reasons why, safety and all, but for 3 months no one has said anything. Police have even drove behind our house many many times and have never said anything.
I just dont understand why people find it enjoyable to be so nosey and ruin things for people.
I have a good diea who it is that said something. We have a horrible, neighbor. She gossips about EVERYTHING!! She was even in my backyard a few days ago without permission.
I am now taking the pool down, but now I have to sell it, because we cannot afford a fence and we do not have a place to store it.
UGH!!!!!

Andrew is very upset. He even cried when I told him that we needed to take it down and sell it.
I hope whomever said something is happy that they have made a child cry :( :(

That sucks :( Unfortunately though, it's better than finding out that some neighbor kid drowned in it because they got in without your knowing... But then, even if you *had* a fence that could still happen... But at least then I think you're covered legally... (?)*sigh* You could check out freecycle.com to see if anyone in your area is tearing down a fence that they'd like to get rid of and then you wouldn't have to pay anything for it... *thinking out loud here* Sorry about the nosy neighbors... We have one of them too- we not-so-affectionately call them the 'lawn nazis'... ;)

sorry you are having to deal with this Mel.

Just a thought, can your pool adapt to have have one of those hard top lids that latch and lock down when not in use? Kind of like a hot tub cover kwim? My sister used to have one of those on thier pool when they didnt have a fence. I dont know the prices of them, or the size of your pool, but it may be worth looking into.

Mel,
I'm soo sorry! People can be soo rude sometimes. My neighbors are very nosy, too, they are always coming over asking what we're doing with our landscaping.

Well, we already got rid of the pool.
I dont have time or the money to deal with this problem.
The city refused to tell me how they became aware of the pool in our backyard.
Oh well.

I understand your sadness, but they are right about the fence. Not only could neighbor's kids drown in it and sue you for all you've got, but your own kids could drown in it and then you'd never forgive yourself. Try again when you have the $ for the pool and the fence. :) Good luck.

Is that your real screen name?
I understand the reasons why this was done, but its the point they reported me instead of just coming to me.
Thanks for the reply.
