I'm 32wks pregnant and I have been having Braxton Hicks contractions on & off, but then, mostly at night, I have sharp pains in my hips and it hurts when I stand & walk.

I had that near the end of my second pregnancy. Basically what I was told, is that the uterus is stretched more than with the first pregnancy, and the muscles and ligaments in there arent as tight as a first pregnancy. It was uncomftorable, but not serious. If you are concerned, mention it to your dr, I know there are belly belt type things that you can wear the support the belly weight, and apparently helps ease the discomfort.

Call your Dr. right away, it sounds like you could be in preterm labor. It may be nothing, but better safe than sorry.
Good luck!

Maybe your baby's on your siatic nerve. . .

I had TONS of Braxton Hicks!! From about 18 weeks on. Sometimes they were painful, sometimes they weren't.

Hello there. sory that you are in so much pain. I went through that. I had contractions 2 months before I had my son and they kept giving me ivs and also some pills to stop the contractions. My doctor always told me to go to the hospital because you don't know what is happening to the baby during those contractions. I was in and out of the hospital every month with my first son for one thing or the other. I am glad that I went and didn't listen to people who always assume that things are normal. It is different for everyone. If I were you I would have been in the hospital by now. That is just me though. If you don't want to go then I would just make sure that after each contraction or in between a couple or after they are all over with that you lay down and count the movements of your baby. If it is less then 6 I think (you might want to look that up because I could be way off, it's been awhile) in an hour then I would go to the hospital right then and there. I know that it sucks having to go but I always say better safe then sorry. You never know if your baby's heartbeat is stopping or dropping everythime you have them. everytime that I have been the nurses always say that it's a good thing that I came because they have the equipment to tell if everything is going ok. My contractions toward the end were never called Braxton Hicks. They were right no just like labor but not as bad. Good luck and I hope everything goes good. Oh yeah also if you do go then they might pump you with fluid because it helps stop the contractions. I would drink lots of water daily. That could stop them completely if you are not getting enough water.

Thanks, it's so weird, it only happens at night, and all I do is drink water and it helps.

Hey! I'm at 36 weeks tomorrow and I have had horrible pain in my lower back/hips/tailbone area off and on for the majority of this pregnancy. (2nd for me, too). I know I had it occasionally with my first but I do not remember it being this bad. My doctor told me that it wasn't until later with my pregnancy that I started having that pain but it comes sooner with the second pregnancy. I usually get it more toward the end of the day and at night after my body starts relaxing after doing whatever I was doing all day. It gets worse if I over-exert myself like if I'm doing a lot of cleaning or a lot of bending and lifting. If it is the same pain I'm having then the only relief is going to be birth. LOL

Take care!

Everything you said is identical to what I'm feeling!
