I used to get one for free because I was a public school teacher.

We get our flu shots every year. The one year we were unable to get them we were sicker than dogs on Halloween of all Holidays. It took 2 months for my husband and I to get rid of the cough and my daughter 3 weeks. No fun!! I have to admit we still have gotten some ilnesses after having the flu shot, but instead of lasting weeks or months they only last a few days and less severe. I know it doesn't protect against all the strains, but we feel it is worth it for our family. When I worked in daycare and in the schools I was sick all the time and all during winter and back then I never even heard of the flu shot. I am glad they have them available. I wish they had a shot against all these nasty viruses!! I got my flu shot a few weeks ago, my daughter got hers yesterday and my hubby goes this Friday to get his. I worry about him the most since he just went back to work outside the home after 4 years.

Yes, we've gotten them for years. Michael brings a bunch home, injects himself, and then injects the rest of us, LOL!! He's supposed to bring some home in the morning, in fact.

I remember having the flu in college and being DEATHLY ILL. No kidding! I had no idea the flu could be so bad. I was laid waste. I was practically delirious with fever, and the aches and pains were unreal. For DAYS!! I didn't shake it for about a week! And I don't think I got all my energy back for a good month. I highly recommend protecting yourself against such a nasty virus.

How cute of Molly! I wish my kids were that cooperative. I'm thinking once they see the needle in Michael's hands, we'll have to drag them out from under the beds or something.

I didn't know you had a heart condition, Wendy. I hope you're OK.

I've never in my life had a flu shot. No reason why I haven't, just never have.

Personally, a few days of lying in bed in the dark, with dh cooking, cleaning, and taking 100% care of the kids

We all get flu shots, Wendy. It started when the twins were born premies and the doc highly recomended Nikki get one, not just to protect her, but the twins too. She handled it great as a 2yo, and it's certainly worth it to not get the flu. Ever since we've all gotten it. Dh did the flu mist at work, I got a shot just yesterday and the twins got theirs Wednesday, Nikki will get hers tomorrow. I'd been meaning to get the kids in to get their shots when dh came home and said they had their first positive flu case. YIKES!! It takes a few weeks for immunity to build (6 is optimal, I think), so time is of the essence. The years where the flu hits in March are tough ones, all the people who got their shots in October don't have as high of an immunity to the bug. But any immunitiy is better than none.

Last year the flu cleared out the schools, Nikki had days where only half her class was there. Nikki was one of the only kids in her class to get an attendance award. Knowing that I spared her and the twins that kind of illness felt good. If the girls what to get the shot and they've never had problems with vaccines, I'd say go for it.

Kyle just got one at work yesterday... if any of the rest of us get one it will be Brayden definitely. I suppose I should get that taken care of.
Being homeschoolers, we really aren't exposed as much... as long as Kyle gets his we're usually ok.

Well, me and the girls got ours this morning! The boys will get theirs when they get home from school (it's ready and waiting for them, LOL!). Michael brought the vaccines home from the hospital this morning. It was kind of sad with Tessa and Jenna, because they sooooo don't want Daddy to poke them. They cried big crocodile tears. It's like he betrayed them or something. Tessa especially (Little Miss Dramatic) sobbed for about 20 minutes. I think Michael felt really bad. Funny, he wouldn't pierce their ears when they were babies (I had to get the pediatrician to do it, who's a friend of ours), but he'll give them vaccines. But I think it bothered him to make them cry, and maybe I should start taking them to the pediatrician for this too. It's just so much easier to have Daddy do it.

Matthew and Justin are going to be just *thrilled* when they come home!

NOT!!
