Does anyone like/listen to Dr. Laura?

Just curious if anyone else here is a listener of Dr. Laura. She is very blunt and I think that kind of bothers me about her, but I do enjoy listening to her program and have read a few of her books since I have been down in AZ that have helped me a lot. I have quickly become a fan. Anyone else listen to her on the radio?

I'm with you on this one, Jessie. She says things that are really stupid, IMO. There are a very few people like this that upset me with the things that they say because they influence the way people end up choosing to live their lives.

Tarra -

I am not a current listener of Dr. Laura, but I used to listen to her. I think she says a lot that makes sense. I like that she is pro SAHM, pro family etc. That said, she can be pretty abrasive and I know that turns a lot of people off.

I have never heard/read her before, nor had I heard of her until I met a certain someone on this board that loves her lol. From what I got from this person, she can be amusing and insightful.

Umm, I had a good impression of her from a fellow board member also until my dh came home irritated with one of her rants, lol. She had said that if a husband moves his wife and family away from her family for his career or "selfish" purposes, 9 times out of 10 he is an abuser or will one day beat her. 9 times out of 10?! Needless to say, this was rather insulting to him, lol. I suppose we're supposed to be living in BFE making less half of what we are just so I can be around my nutty family??? It's one thing to say that 9 times out of 10 a beater will move his wife away from her support system, quite another to say that EVERY man who moves his wife away from her family will beat her. That's just nuts. But if you can overlook the occasional misguided and arrogant statement like that, I'm sure she's helpful or at least entertaining.

I've never listened to her, but I get the feeling that it's all or nothing with people who like/dislike her.

She definitely can be very harsh on people and I can't agree with everything that she says, but I do like listening to her program. She is very pro-family and encouraging to SAHMs like us. I read "The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands" and "The Proper Care and Feeding of Marriage" over the last few weeks (they actually took me about 2-3 days each to read). I found the advice to be very encouraging when it comes to taking care of your husband and helping your marriage. DH is even going to read "The Proper Care and Feeding of Marriage".

Anywayz, I was just curious . . . .

hi tarra, i am very against television, and radio analysts and therapists. I feel that the relationship you have with the person helping you has to be very deep, and there has to be trust. I actually feel these people are dangerous, just my oppinion.
keep loving that little bump, and your little sweetheart of a boy. i gotta post pix at some point and show off my kid too, i can't find that cable for the camera, that goes to the comp. I swear i think dh has left it somewhere, and i should just have him buy one.
take care arie
