Glad you asked this ?. I volunteer at church but want to volunteer somewhere else. There is a website that matches volunteers with organizations...wondering if anyone knows what that is.

I guess it depends on where you live - we live in Atlanta, and the organization here is called Hands On Atlanta. It serves as a link between potential volunteers and hundreds of organizations that need volunteers (nursing homes, hospitals, children's homes, etc.) I know that there is a similar organization in NYC called New York Cares. I'm sure that other metropolitan areas also have volunteer clearinghouses like that. Good luck!

P.S. Also, at-risk elementary schools are a good place to start. You could always volunteer to come in and read to the kids, and your children could listen as well.

I used to volunteer at an "old age home" for years. But due to some creepy circumstances, I stopped. There are so many good organizations to get involved with. My next will be taking the training (gov assisted) and going to a women's call line or shelter.

You could always volunteer at a place that could watch the children while you do it, or a place that the kids could help as well...
