OK, so catch this. FIL came up to put together dd's swingset with dh tonight. He'd been telling us all about it, but there was no way we could have pictured this. He's a carpenter and engineer who actually built his own house and he's designed this swingset himself with no kit. This sucker's HUGE!!! OMG, some of the neighbors are gonna be soooo ticked off. Where the roof on the tallest platform peaks it will be over 15 ft tall!!! It has 2 slides, one 10 ft bumpy and one even larger curly tube, two swingset arms (one with 4 swing spots, and one with a rope to climb and a big tire swing) a clubhouse, a second platform and a picnic table and tunnel under it all. It has a rock wall, a plank, AND a ladder AND monkey bars. All the wood has been sanded down perfectly smooth with rounded edges and the surfaces they will be sitting and the monkey bars will be made from a plastic composite (like they make comosite decks out of) so it will be splinter proof. Comparable swingset we've seen sold in kits and assembled professionally have cost $10,000 at least, no kidding. There's no way to stop it now that it's started. The kids are going to love it. My biggest problem is going to be keeping all the neigbor kids out of my back yard now. Holy Cow! Only part of it is done, but already it really blows my mind.

We were going to fence our yard in last year, but then our neighbors behind put up a swingset for their daughter. Their lot is sloped and the only flat area was right next to our plot and if we put up a fence, she couldn't swing. And these are neighbors we actually like, so we decided against it. About that time the pagan neighbors put up a fence of there own, which we THOUGHT would keep the dog out of our yard, at least. It has helped a little.
