Don't you think we should get paid?

I've thought about this off and on . . . daydreaming, really . . . .but I think that SAHMs should be financially compensated by the government. I'm not talking making six-digit figure or anything like that. Just a little extra that will help make ends meet better for families that decide to have one of the parents stay home. I'm thinking as little as $20,000 a year. This is barely a thousand dollars a month but who here wouldn't appreciate a thousand extra dollars a month? I know I would!
This would help alleviate day care crowdages, plus the gov. wouldn't be paying

I completely agree with you. I think many more moms would be able to stay at home if we got some compensation. The government doesn't have to help pay for all day care for children, but they do supplement both day cares with food help, etc. Can you imagine how much the government would actually save?
TARRA FOR PREZ! I'd vote for you. lol

Here! Here!
I'm not holding my breath : (
I think we should get paid, but there would have to be some checks and balances put in place to ensure that it wasn't abused by the wrong type of people.
I'm just saying, if you look at how our welfare system is abused, this could be abused too! By people who don't care about their kids, let them run the streets and sell drugs out of their homes while collecting even more money from the government.
Where's the petition?
interesting topic ladies!
Tanya you bring up some good points too...
what if instead of monetary compensation though, to avoid those types of problems, if children and mothers received vouchers for clothing, food, haircuts, etc., or maybe families could receive a discount at stores or on utilities; discounts would be based on spousal income, number of children, etc. much like WIC.
Certainly would help us out a lot!
