I also saw the first show. Thank you for posting this I am really interested in watching the sequel. The only thing that I think could have used some more attention though, is those who don't have a choice.

My dh and I decided I would stay home when our 2nd child was born due to the cost of daycare and of course all of the other added benefits. I am so happy that we made this desision, I love being able to be a full time mom.

I also agree: they really got brutal. I don't think there is a right or wrong, it is whatever works for the family, as long as the kids benefit from the situation in some way.

I agree with you. I have 1 dd. Before she was born, we evalulated the costs of me working or staying home. If I did work, over 3/4 of my take home pay would have gone to day care. It wasn't worth it. I don't regret it at all!!!

I never saw the first episode, but I am definately watching this one. I too had to quit my job due to the costs of daycare. I wanted to stay home with my dd and I am so glad that I did. There is nothing like seeing all her firsts and new achievements. Let me know what you all thought of the show.

Ok,

I just got done watching the show. And, once again, I am dissapointed that the fact that not everybody has a choice was barely mentioned. I did get a little upset when the working mom made the comment about "just raising kids" and how working moms contribute to society.

But, I still believe that every's family's needs are differnt. As a few of us on this board have stated, it was more finacially feasible to sah. I agree with Dr. Phil and Robyn that neither side is right or wrong as long as the children don't suffer.

I didn't think the working mom was a very good representative of the "typical" working mom. I mean, she is a teacher and her son is school-age and she picks him up from school every day. So, from his point of view, she IS a stay at home mom. It's not like he goes to daycare.

I think it would have been better to have a "real" working mom who puts her kids in daycare for 10 hours a day. Then, they could have had a real discussion. I do agree that many moms HAVE to work -- especially single moms -- but I also think there are many who could stay at home or work less than they do. But they are more concerned about having a lot of "stuff" than spending more time with their kids.

I was also disappointed by Dr. Phil's take on the whole debate. Just because his mom was a working mom doesn't mean that this is the best choice for every mom or every kid. And his own wife left a professional career to stay home with the kids. But neither of them discussed why they thought that was a BETTER choice than having her continue to work and putting the kids in daycare.

I also think there is a big difference between working full time or part time when the kids go to school all day versus when they are tiny babies. That wasn't really discussed either. Not a very thorough discussion of the whole thing.

Just my two cents.
