Dressing for winter
12

I grew up where it was warm all year round (it was cold when it got to 70), so I have no idea how to dress Alyssa for winter. There have been flurries for the past few days, so we haven't left the house, but there are things that I have to get done.

Most of her clothes right now are one piece with feet. That in itself drives me nuts, but they were all gifts so I should be thankful. But they don't seem warm enough for outside. I know that we will only be going to and from the car, and I figure that if I have a blanket on her, that it will be enough. We bought her a snow suit, but that was mainly for playing in the snow (duh). I don't really want to put her in that, then make her sit in the car with the heater on so she's not cold for the minute that I have her outside.

So...how do/did you dress your infant during the winter?

well i grew up in Ohio and it is cold there now I'm in Fresno Cali so i can relate now to the warm days but it just depends on the age if the little one is ..... a baby i would do more then a blanket we did a 1 piece outfit like a fleece snow suit with a hat and a blanket over the face when we go out..... but if they are older just layer but make sure to have gloves and a hat and some warm shoes and socks that's about all you can do and if the get to hot you can adjust and take something off better to warm then too cold...good luck...Melinda

I live just outside of Columbus - pretty chilly today. I would love to hibernate until summer...but no. She does have a couple of heavier footie things that she can wear that aren't quite snow suits. I don't find them particulary attractive and haven't washed them, but I suppose I should. She has years to become a fashon queen.

Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the reminder about the hat. I'm good at putting it on her when it's time to leave, and then I take it off when we get inside (it falls over the eyes, it's still a little big) and forget to put it back on. I need to get better at that.

Love your siggy.

Thanks, Christine! My DS hates this one hat we have for him that ties under the chin, but he'll wear

Depending on how cold it is outside I dress my 3 month old either with a coat/snow suit (that is really heavy) or I use a carseat cover and a blanket but my baby is very "warm blooded" she is sweating from sitting in her carseat no matter what temperature it is outside.

Dress your baby in one more layer than you wear.
