Dressing for winter

I grew up where it was warm all year round (it was cold when it got to 70), so I have no idea how to dress Alyssa for winter. There have been flurries for the past few days, so we haven't left the house, but there are things that I have to get done.
Most of her clothes right now are one piece with feet. That in itself drives me nuts, but they were all gifts so I should be thankful. But they don't seem warm enough for outside. I know that we will only be going to and from the car, and I figure that if I have a blanket on her, that it will be enough. We bought her a snow suit, but that was mainly for playing in the snow (duh). I don't really want to put her in that, then make her sit in the car with the heater on so she's not cold for the minute that I have her outside.
So...how do/did you dress your infant during the winter?

I never thought about adding a onesie under some outfits- thanks for the hint!

I live just outside of Columbus - pretty chilly today. I would love to hibernate until summer...but no. She does have a couple of heavier footie things that she can wear that aren't quite snow suits. I don't find them particulary attractive and haven't washed them, but I suppose I should. She has years to become a fashon queen.
Thanks for the info.

Always make sure they are wearing
Thanks for the reminder about the hat. I'm good at putting it on her when it's time to leave, and then I take it off when we get inside (it falls over the eyes, it's still a little big) and forget to put it back on. I need to get better at that.
Love your siggy.
