Dressing for winter

I grew up where it was warm all year round (it was cold when it got to 70), so I have no idea how to dress Alyssa for winter. There have been flurries for the past few days, so we haven't left the house, but there are things that I have to get done.

Most of her clothes right now are one piece with feet. That in itself drives me nuts, but they were all gifts so I should be thankful. But they don't seem warm enough for outside. I know that we will only be going to and from the car, and I figure that if I have a blanket on her, that it will be enough. We bought her a snow suit, but that was mainly for playing in the snow (duh). I don't really want to put her in that, then make her sit in the car with the heater on so she's not cold for the minute that I have her outside.

So...how do/did you dress your infant during the winter?

One impostant thing to remember Christine is that you child should never wear anything heavier sitting in a car seat then a light coat.

I usually do the one piece outfits and add booties, a sweater over that and wrap up in 2 blankets. It is easy to just lay the blankets over her in the car seat until the car warms up and then I pull them off and the sweater is fine to keep the chill off of her.
