Drivin' me nuts!!

I really do love my dh, however, he has a bad habit that is drivin' me nuts! He is an electrician, so throughout his day, he collects misc. little parts that he needs, and keeps them in his pocket. Invariably, he forgets about them, until he gets home. Then, he unloads all of the "stuff" out of his pockets, onto my dresser (he has his own!), the desk in the den, the kitchen counter, etc. Every where I turn there are wire nuts, screws and little pieces I don't even know what they are, all over the place. I've tried everything I can think of. I put out a little basket for him - he filled it up, then once it was full, never emptied it and started using other surfaces again. Sigh, I guess this is a losing battle, I will never win. Thanks for letting me vent my little gripe of the day. I'm off to the grocery store.

Hi...LOL...my sister was married to an electrician and he did the same thing! Then he started accumulating stuff in their back yard, big stuff, spools of wire, etc. Then he actually bought a small bungalow in their town just to use for storage! I guess it goes with the territory...hang in there, being an electrician is a fine occupation!!

LOL! I sure can relate to your sister. Although he hasn't bought a separate house for storage yet, he is ALWAYS bringing stuff home! We just built 2500 sq. ft. ranch, so he thinks that he has 2500 sq. ft. of storage in the basement - he has some ENORMOUS light fixtures (10 of them, I think) that he brought home - he might need them. Um, where? It certainly does go with the territory. Thanks for making me feel not-so-alone!

It must be a guy thing. Whenever anyone in his family doesn't want anything anymore, they call dh. He just adopted the world's oldest snowblower from his dad. Don't ask me why. He has a nice, new one that works just fine. There are car parts EVERYWHERE! Hoods, bumpers, dashboards, steering wheels, extra tires, the list goes on. We have an 1100 sq. ft. garage, and he is already talking about building another garage. He has 2 classic car for car shows, and our 2 every day cars. Which is much better than about a month ago when we had 6 cars - an only 2 drivers!! Sigh. Somebody stop me. I think I'm in spring cleaning mode.....

My husband thinks that everything that doesn't have a place goes on my dresser.

That is so funny Wendy. I do sympathize with you, that would drive me nuts as well. Especially since I am sure I have some kind of compulsive disorder...lol. I was just gonna say (but Andrea beat me to it) that he reminds me of my bil...heehee. He does the same thing with the dresser thing. My dh has finally learned that you better put everything where it goes or else...lol. I think it's just that he does not want to upset me cause he always says "if momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy"...lol. Good luck to ya girl. Hopefully one day he'll get it.
