DS is weaned from the bottle...but...

Question...we are now weaned from the bottle...HALLELUAH!!! We did the gradual thing where we replaced the lunch bottle first, then dinner, then night, then morning which was the hardest one. DS had his last bottle on Saturday, and we were only really giving him the bottle for in between meal waters and the morning bottle with a LITTLE milk, enough to make him not mad first thing in the morning. Ok, now he has no bottles, we tossed them. One of my friends said it took her little ones about a week of total crankiness before they'd really drink anything of value from the cup. My ds is not drinking much, but he is drinking...he has much less wet diapers, but at least he's still peeing and pooping...he's eating just ok. We're going to Phoenix this weekend in the car...7 hours..ugh! and I'm a little nervous about the no bottle thing, but I've been told DO NOT GO BACK TO THEM by many people. How long did it take yours to get used to the fact that there are no more bottles and they aren't coming back and they had better drink from the cup if they want a drink? My ds is just over 14 months, and we began the weaning process just after he turned 1. Thanks in advance.
