I used to love DYK threads.  Anyone interested in getting one started?

DYK I send hugs for the diagnosis

DYK I'm hypoglycemic, so I have to watch how much sugar I eat and also eat often

DYK I highly recommend a food and exercise tracking site or app, especially if there's one that your friends are using

DYK I was slowly losing weight for the first 4 months of the year, then started using MyFitnessPal

DYK I'm now ready to switch to maintaining my weight and toning muscles

DYK I walk in place while reading (30 min/day, 2.5 mph) to combine exercise with my love of books but I'll put together a strength training routine in the fall and might also try out Zumba and bellydancing videos

DYK a nanny sounds wonderful!

DYK we need to move our boat to the backyard so there's more workshop potential in the garage

DYK we were going to put in a veggie garden last year, then this year and now we're not sure because we might move in a couple years to a bigger house

DYK we do have strawberry plants, though, in a small bed raised up from the old garden plot

DYK I also have a tulip bed, overgrown lilacs, two rosebushes, two apple trees and a plum tree

DYK that's probably enough to deal with at this point :smileywink:

DYK we're watching Numbers (Season 2 episode) via Netflix

DYK Hubby really liked this show when it aired 'cause he's into math and science big time (and he better be as an engineer LOL)

DYK we're also checking out Early Edition, which I don't think I saw back in '96 (and there are four seasons)

DYK these shows are helpful right now since Hubby finds sports coverage mostly boring

DYK there are a lot of sci-fi shows I'd like to watch or re-watch thanks to Netflix but I'm saving them for when he's at work or out gaming with the guys :smileywink:

DYK we did already watch two Disney movies today - I'm near the end of the Princess Diaries series, so Hubby suggested I do a PD movie marathon if I wanted :smileyhappy:

DYK DS#3 also turns 5 right before Halloween. Is DS doing K or pre-K? We went with K and I don't think I'll be 100% comfortable with that decision until we have that first set of conferences.

DYK Rhae that is great about the garden space. What all do you want to grow? I'm going to expand ours next year and maybe try square foot gardening. We need more variety but don't have the space. I let the kids put the seeds in this year and we have pumpkin/watermelon vines spreading over the yard. Not to mention an overload of summer squash I don't know what to do with.

DYK the nanny sounds great... it has to be hard with 3 little ones. Do you still have your other homestay student?

DYK the weather has been beautiful lately. We have a high of 70 on Thursday which is unheard of in August, it is like we had an early start to summer and fall is going to start early too. I love the cool weather at night.

DYK the older kids have soccer camp in the mornings this week and all the kids have VBS in the evenings so it has been a quiet week around here.

DYK our coaches meeting for soccer is tonight which means practices will be starting up soon.

DYK DH has been looking at other states for jobs and I just don't know that I can go through the stress of selling a house (again) and moving and renting and learning a new place... I'm really hoping he either stays with his current company or finds something local.

DYK Tim did a weekly preschool program last school year, maybe the equivalent of pre-K? but not called that?

DYK Tim will be in kindergarten and hopefully at our first-week conferences they'll say he's good to go for the year :smileyhappy:

Dyk I am thankful for the support from u all?
Idk there were fitness apps I will have to look into that.
Dyk that we have been doing much better with portion control and choosing healthy things....
Dyk we apparently have a new obsession with lizard lick towing and gator boys...
Dyk a nanny sounds great....
Dyk I still got a lot of house work to do...so far from being unpacked but the kids rooms are done thankfully
Dyk I wish we could plant a garden but the new place is mostly shaded...I would need a box to put on the patio but hubby isn't handy
Dyk that I broke my daughters crib in the move so we got a toddler bed given to us since she's almost two I didn't want to buy another crib...she sleeps in it but screams for 20 mins when we put her to bed

DYK that is great you are doing better with portion control and eating healthy. You can do it!

DYK I had GD with my youngest and it was very hard to stick with eating right but at least I could count down to how long I had left. MIL has diabetes and does not take care of herself. She's in the hospital for the 3rd time with life threatening issues and is only 55. So stick with it, it is so much better than what happens if you don't.

DYK that stinks about DD and the toddler bed. We switched all of ours before 2 and it was pretty smooth. Is something scaring her?

DYK I've been very irritable lately. I think I'm just ready for the kids to head off to school. 3 more weeks.
