Emptying waterbed

My fil FINALLY finished the bunkbeds for my older girls. We've only been waiting a year. He built them from scratch and they are BEAUTIFUL. I just wish he hadn't told us he'd build them and then taken a year to do it. The girls have a small bedroom that's completely taken up by two beds and a dresser.
Anyways, so we drained my oldest dd's waterbed today. What a fiasco. We bought a fill/drain kit (those things get lost easier than your favorite earrings LOL). We tried to hook the "super pump" up to the kitchen faucet and that wouldn't work. So, we hooked it up to the bathroom faucet. This took at least 1.5 hours to get it attached properly. So then we followed the instructions to get it "pumping" water out of the waterbed. What a joke! 4 hours later it was maybe half empty. I asked my mom how long is should take and she said they emptied out their queen size waterbed in 40 minutes. She said they always just put the hose outside and let it drain. So we did that and less than a half hour later it was empty!
So, lesson learned, if you need to empty a waterbed, just dump it outside! Don't use that silly "super pump".

I definetely will post pictures. :) We aren't putting them up till Friday when my oldest dd comes. And the ladder may not be finished yet by then, but my fil is sure with a kitchen chair my oldest dd can get into the top bunk (they're not real tall).
I'm so excited to get them into the room. We got matching Disney Princess bedding for them and the room is done in Disney Princess. I can't wait. Maybe I can get the rest of the crayon off the wall before the pictures. LOL
