FINALLY!!

My dh NEVER buys anything new unless he has repaired it, repaired it and repaired it again. Literally. He fixed my old clothes dryer, my HAIR dryer, etc. He has had this tractor/mower since we bought our lot. He had to keep the weeds down, so he would come to the lot a couple times during the summer to cut, before we built our house. He has had it since 2002, and it was used when he bought it. It is basically falling apart. I have been trying to convince him for months that he should just go buy one. We'll figure it out! Home Depot came out with their 12 mos. no finance charges deal yesterday. I left the flyer on the counter where he could see it. Pretty soon he came over to the neighbor's (he knew I was there) and said we were going mower shopping. I'm so glad - he really, really needed it.

Does anyone have a dh that really has a problem untying the purse strings, unless its absolutely necessary? I'm not saying it is a fault of his, because we certainly wouldn't be where we are today, if it weren't for his ability to manage money, however, it is sometimes frustrating.

Wendy, LoL Sounds like you are talking about Doug! He just got a new John Deere, but not without trying to keep his 12 year old mower running at all cost. I would love a new car, my van is at 130 thousand miles and is starting to show it, but he wants to milk it for another year. It is not as if we can't buy these things, it doesn't bother me to much because he is great about making smart money decisions. So for now I am counting down the days until I can

That's just it, Rose. Its not that we can't afford it, he just prefers to hang onto his money as long as possible, so the finance deals these places come out with are very intriguing to him. He was waiting for Home Depot to come out with it so he could go purchase it this way. Now he can hang onto the money, just a little longer, but still have his brand new mower. I say, good for them - they work very hard for their money, so they deserve to have new things like that!

Hugs,

My husband is this way, but the home depot bug bit him and we did the 12 mos same as cash and bought our fence and the porch material.
Now he has both done and I am scared I created a monster.
Be careful, next thing you know, hubby will be shopping there more often

LOL, Mel - way too late here! I have a Home Depot monster, already. When we built our house, he was there CONSTANTLY, because he is a do-it-yourselfer, and he literally did alot, himself. He is an electrician, so he wired the whole house, laid all the ceramic tile (foyer and master bath floors, plus the jacuzzi tub surround), did the hardwood floor by ourselves, put all the cultured stone on the front of the house and around the fireplace, etc. He also put in our brick paver sidewalk and our retaining wall. Most of the supplies needed for these projects are from Home Depot. He really should have bought stock in the place, LOL! He says they are going to put an addition on the local store, and name it after him. Funny guy!!
