Holy cow I start zone cleaning next week. I have been spending the last month working on keeping my sink clean and getting up and dressed before the kids wake up, and doing the occasional run through the house throwing out clutter drill.

I told myself I would start zone decluttering and cleaning in September. Now its almost here!

a bit apprehensive,.....but looking forward to getting rid of all this crap in my house and having dh come home in January to a much more streamlined, clutterless organized home.

I think you do a great job of giving everyone a job for the day I always say ok when I lay down the baby I will do my job for the day but it doesn't get done. I am going to work on that really hard next week!!

ok, so maybe I've blown it with the fly-lady thing, but I'm going to start again... honest.

I just wanted to share a couple of hints that I picked up from watching Graham Haley on PBS.

I needed to polish some silver that I picked up at the antique mall, so I lined a pie plate with aluminum foil, poured in almost boiling water, and dumped in a bunch of salt; put the silver in, and voila! Took the tarnish right off. All that was left was to make it shine with some polish & buffing.

This is really cool... I have one of those farmhouse style tile top tables that DH & I bought when we got married 9 1/2 yrs ago. Needless to say the grout was starting to look pretty nasty with two kids, even with regular cleaning. I used a tube of whitening toothpaste, and a large stiff cleaning brush, and my table looks beautiful! Even dd's blue ink artwork came out. Now not only is my table sparkling white, but it's minty fresh to boot :o) I think I'll start keeping a tube in the shower so I clean there too!

WOOHOO!!!

Hey, thanks for that post! I've been trying to remember if it was baking soda or salt for that silver cleaning trick~ *lol*. You know, if the silver pieces are large (like punch bowls or trays) you can use the sink, too. :)

Will have to try that whitening toothpaste idea for some of the grout around the step of the shower and on my bathroom tiles. Thank you!
