FRUSTRATED:(

I am so frustrated right now with AOL. I need some advice. I have been trying to cancel my account with them since Feb. but they keep giving me another free month (have not had to pay a thing). I just signed with them in January for the free trial month and have been trying to cancel. We have roadrunner now and I definitely do not need AOL. It is hard for me to be rude on the phone but they are really pushing my buttons. I called and I told them bluntly that my computer died and it will be a long time before I can get another one (what a lier..lol), but I thought this would work this time. HELLO, computer death we don't need internet, but it still did not work. The guy was very nice and said "ok I'll take care of this for you", so I thought the whole time that he was cancelling my account, but then he tells me before we hang up "let me give you my email and then write next to it the date of June 2" I asked him why do I need to write down this date, he said "I am giving you another free month, just call us before June 1 if there is any reason you want to cancel or not happy". I AM SO MAD. This has happened every month since Feb. I just want to SCREAM!!! I am so tired of having to call every month to cancel (or try to cancel). So sorry for the long vent. I just need to know what I need to do to get rid of them once and for all. I don't like that they have my credit card # and can charge it if I don't call in time (AGAIN) to cancel.

Thank you for listening, Olivia

omg Olivia... I know exactly what you are going through...

We tried for a YEAR to get rid of AOL... I finally got so p.o.'d that I called and and chewed them up one side and down the other. AOL is like the Hotel California of internet services... once you get it you can never leave. Just the name AOL leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

You have to get downright nasty with those people and tell them to cancel it immediately, and if they try to give you another month, ask to speak to a manager. It's absolutely ridiculous what they make you go through. I literally had to yell at the guy "I DON'T WANT IT!!!! CANCEL MY SERVICE IMMEDIATELY!!!". I gotta tell ya, I used to work in customer service and was even in management, and I don't like doing that, but omg I felt sooooo good ;o)

Good luck!

Yikes! I have AOL and was thinking of getting dsl and getting rid of it...now I am afraid! lol

You need to get tough...ask for a supervisor and don't take no for an answer.

They do this as a way to keep you going. They hope that one month you will just give up and not call to cancel.
I say call and say that is it and don't care if you are mean. You are going to have this happen each month if you don't put your foot down.
Good luck.

Thanks ladies, I guess I do have to get down right ugly:( Isn't that sad though that it has to come to that. Not a way to do business if you ask me. Oh well, I will let ya'll know how it turns out. I'll go ahead and take another month and give them a call at the end of May. Thanks again for the advice.
