Good Friday Morning! (m)

We're going to a homeschool meeting at church today. I've organized a craft for the kids to do and we'll probably take them out to the playground as well.

After that - nothing planned, woohoo!!! I'm not sure if we'll come home or run some errands, but I'm just glad we don't have to run off somewhere else for once!

Tomorrow Dave is planning to take the kids out of the house so I can finish painting the baseboards & doors in his bathroom downstairs, as well as clean it. Somehow I think I'm getting the raw end of the deal, LOL. Tomorrow night we're thinking about taking the kids to see the first Harry Potter movie - they're showing it outside on the side of a barn at a local park. It's free and sounds like fun. It doesn't start until 9PM, though, so we'll have to see how Kaitlin and Jeremy are doing by that time.

I really hope Dave and I get to spend some time together this weekend. He's been working so late all the time and I feel like I haven't seen him in weeks! Oh, and get this - he got his mid-year review yesterday. He was basically rated *average* on everything. He asked his boss what was up with that because he really doesn't know what he can do any better than he already is. His boss said he doesn't want him to change a thing; he's doing the same excellent job he did last year. His company conducts their reviews by comparing a person's performance in the current year to how they performed in the past year. Basically, he has set an extremely high standard for himself in the past, so if he continues to perform way above average, he's only going to get an *average* rating, because that is what is expected of him. Talk about taking away any incentive to do better!!! Dave's boss couldn't give him one thing he can do to improve his rating, so he'll just continue to get *average*, even though he does so much more than anyone else there - does that suck or what?!

Well, I gotta get moving. TGIF!

Morning Kendra!

That is such a bummer about Dave's review!! What a lame system!

Good luck doing the painting tomorrow, Kendra. It does sound like a raw deal, but at least you'll get to hear yourself think for a few hours, huh? LOL

Hope you and Dave can snuggle in after the kids are in bed. I know how it is when they work busy and it feels like forever since you've had a decent conversation!!

Hugs, hope you have a great day, Kendra!

Morning Kendra! I hope you have a good day. Good luck getting the painting done tomorrow. As for the Harry potter movie......it is along movie. GOOD but long. Good luck.

Poor Dave! Nothing like giving your all to be told you are doing OK. Tell him to start to slack so he can get a great review next year!

Hope you and Dave get sometime together this weekend.

Thanks, Melissa! Truth is, I really won't mind at all having the house to myself, even if it is to paint. I'm going to be the one to have to do it anyway, because it's been almost two years and Dave still hasn't finished it, so I might as well be able to turn up some music and not worry about listening for screaming kids, LOL.

Hope you have a great day, too, hon!

LMBO, that's exactly what Dave said, Denise! He said he'd just have to do a really crappy job next year so that he can kick butt the following year and get *excellent*. Of course that's not him and he'd never do that, but it's really sad to think that's probably what he'd have to do if he wants to improve his rating.

Hope you have a wonderful day, sweets!

Have a great day. I have some advice for your dh. He should write a letter to his boss confirming what his boss said and mentioning that he would be open to any suggestions for improvement. It should also be copied to the HR department where his review is kept on file. It will really protect him if he gets a new boss down the road. I assume that any wage increases are based on these reports too--so you want it known that he is doing a good job, not an "average" one. It also looks good to know that he is wanting to improve even more. Naturally this can be a very positive letter and some concrete example of his excellent performance. (i.e. start off with "Thank you for presenting me with the review today. I was pleased to learn that you are very happy with my perfomance to date...blah, blah, blah...) It is a good way of turning around an "average" review to be a good one and keeping it in his file. And there is my advice--take it or leave it! LOL!

Mornin Kendra! Sounds like a fun day planned with the church, the kids'll have a blast! As for the painting day, I would've loved to have had my dh take the kids out so I could finish. It's so hard painting with young ones cause they are always trying to 'help'.LOL!

Anyway, have a great day!
