Got some very good news

My sil (my brother's wife) is Army Reserves. She was already in Iraq in 2004 and she gets out of the reserves in Oct. 2008. Her batallion is going to be deployed late this year. Besides the obvious (who wants a family member in Iraq really), she and my brother have a dd that was born in April of 2006. Their dd would stay with us if she was deployed because my brother works long hours and is VERY impatient, he can't handle being a dad with his wife around, let alone if she was gone.
My sil had drill this weekend and we babysat our niece. My sil just got back. Her batallion is being deployed in November, but so far she is not on the battle roster! It could change, but as it stands right now she will not be going to Iraq. I guess they took a survey that had 4 questions, such as "Do you wish to be deployed?", "If deployed do you want to stay with your batallion?", etc. and my sil of course said she didn't want to be deployed and I guess for some reason they listened.
I can't tell you how good of news this is for our family. My dh's cousin is in Iraq right now and if my sil went we'd just get dh's cousin back by the time she went. Anyone who has someone over there knows how nerve wracking it is every day. My sil lost her best friend in Iraq last time. Dh's cousin's group lost 6 people in 2 months.
Any thoughts and prayers would be much appreciated. My sil did sign up for the reserves and she and my brother made the decision to have a child before her tour was up, but of course we'd still rather keep her in the US.

Heather, that is wonderful news!! I'm so glad she's not being deployed as of now, and I'll pray that she avoids it altogether. I can't imagine having a loved one in Iraq. I can imagine every day would be so nerve-wracking. Just what you typed "Battle Roster" gives me the heebie-jeebies!
I heard recently (don't know if it's true or not), that if they institute the Draft, they'll be drafting women as well as men, married women as well as married men, and having children would have nothing to do with it, and the Draft would go up to age 35! I have no idea if this is accurate information. One of our friends told us this at our New Year's Eve party. But I must admit, I worry for my children's future!
