Do your kids know what they want to be for Halloween?

Ian, for some reason, wants to be the Scream guy.

Her preschool Halloween party was yesterday. She did OK. She kept taking her costume off and then putting it back on. Granted, it was a bit warm in the classroom, so I don't really blame her.

It was cute to see all the kids dress up. I should write up a separate rant about people who sign up to be the "official" room mom and then leave everyone kind of twisting. :/ I was up until almost 2AM trying to get a craft together (and driving all over creation the whole day before looking for supplies that I could have just got online for way less had this woman just responded to an email two weeks ago), so I was definitely wearing my cranky pants yesterday.

Haha! I like the tire marks! Maybe a few tail feathers missing...

DH and I were trying to think about how we'd do a dead parrot. I found a parrot costume, and we were thinking about Xing out the eyes and making tire tracks across the front of it. I'm glad I didn't have to buy and then destroy a $25 costume! We're good with the tiger look.

haha! I was wondering what a dead bird costume would look like. I guess it would depend on the cause of death... hehe Glad she moved on to a LIVE animal! :)

That is adorable!! You have to post pics of him on Halloween.

Lucy's "dead bird" kick is over. Our neighbor gave her this Tigger costume (that she's been wearing around the house randomly), so now she's going to be a tiger. An alive tiger. Hooray!! :D

Noah is being a giraffe, and possibly a horse for the preschool party (the playschool teacher lent it to him as he LOVES this horse costume -- wants to wear it every day afer preschool) and I picked up a bunny costume for Evan.

Done!! Here's my little guy's sock monkey costume. I found the hat on Etsy and made the rest. I'm feeling pretty full of myself right now! Its been a long time (like 15 years) since I made anything so ambitious. First zipper I've ever done too! Turns out it wasn't too hard. I had to take the sleeves off cause I put them on upside down (not paying attention) but other than that, between youtube videos and inspecting pajamas that he already has, it was actually not too difficult. The tail is just safety pinned on so that it will be easily removable when this outfit becomes pajamas after Halloween.

I normally don't sew much except baby blankets for shower gifts and the occasional repair but I've always looked forward to making my kids' Halloween costumes. My mom taught me to sew when I was a kid and I did a lot of sewing for 4-H projects. I see myself sewing a lot more now though. I did get my machine un-jammed so I guess I'd better take advantage of nap time and go finish sewing the cuffs on! :) I'll get pics up as soon as I can!
