Hard finding things to do sometimes

I've been finding that it's hard for me to really get active in anything during the week with Jacob. I'm not a morning person, I'm so tired that I just like to hang out at the house, give Jacob his breakfast and let him watch tv and play. Then the afternoons are taken up with his nap and me taking a shower and doing house chores. When he wakes up, depending on the weather we sometimes go to the park or out on errands. I've looked into joining moms groups and went to a playgroup last week. It was fun but I didn't know anybody. It's hard to get started w/new things when you don't know anybody and are shy. But I need to get Jacob involved in a few things during the week because he is getting so bored just staying at the house, I feel like I'm doing him a disservice. Anyone else struggling w/these issues? Maybe I'm just feeling down on myself today cause my car needs new tires so I can't go anywhere right now. We have my in-laws van I could use but I'm not used to driving it, plus the back break light is out and I can barely reach the peddles! Plus yesterday we had a cold front move in and it got to near freezing. It's been too cold and windy to do anything outside, except I think it's better today, I need to go check.

Jenny when I had my first and he was so young I felt the same things you are feeling. I would not get down on yourself and usually children your sons age are content to stay at home. They are not really ready for parralel play anyway and the playgroups are more for mom anyway :)
Since you are shy a more one on one situation might be best for you, you could try matchingmoms.com
You just fill out a little profile and tell a little about yourself. You could make a playdate at a local coffeeshop or story time at the libray and make a friend to have over instead of always going out somewhere.
Also the holidays are a great time to get into a hobby and make some homeade gifts.
I hope you feel better and we are here for you :)
