Have you read "Home Alone America"?

It is a very interesting book examining the author's thesis that the lack of sahms is a significant factor in childhood mental illness, obesity, violence, etc.
Wondering if anyone else is reading it and what you thought.
I think a book that needs to be read in tandem is "The Price of Motherhood" (I think that is the title) which talks about the real economic penalties of staying home or even being a "working" mother and addresses some of the radical societal changes that would be necessary to make sah more economically just and feasible.
The other two books I am finding thought provoking are "Consuming Kids" and "Born to Buy," both about the massive advertising/marketing targetting children and its affect on children. Anyone else reading those books.
I would love to hear people's ideas on these books/topics!
Thanks!
Meg

Wow! You have brought up some very interesting books that I will definitely check out. I haven't read anything on staying home, but I can't wait to pick up those books. When I do, I'll let you know what I think. Interesting...
